And to think I chose to get a MME because it had been out for over a year and they must have worked out all the kinks...
Lol. Yes same? but I think the problem is they've got some wiz guys that are saying..but how can we make it better, cut corners, costs etc. Remember, they already cut 1k. Just saying. Also, changed the seatbelt, and then found out ooops.oops. Don't get me wrong, we never want to sit on our hands while the competition leaps past. But improvements do come at a cost. Testing is key.

Keep in mind that per the recall documents, this happened to under 300/100k vehicles… no reason to think those numbers would be under-reported (I mean who wouldn’t report a Stop Safely Now message…?)

I took a 90+ mile round trip up into the mountains yesterday to visit my parents (they live at 9000’) and enjoyed the ride.

We can close the race! I got a call this morning from my dealership. We have wheels on the ground!

I can’t get it yet due to the recall, but I can at least go see it in person!

I believe the correct denominator to use is the ~50,000 US MachEs. NHTSA wouldn't be documenting issues with European/Canadian cars, which make up the other half of MachEs. And if you add up the US sales numbers for the MachE, it's really closer to 40,000. The balance are sitting on dealer lots or in transit but not yet sold- so haven't had a chance to fail. Honestly this looks to be closer to a 1% failure rate, potentially much higher for GTs. (it's unclear that many SR cars have had this issue, anecdotally, seems much less common). Still rare, but much more common then initial reports suggested.

Replying to myself just to say we will also be going on a long road trip (with DC fast charging) this weekend. I am not worried enough to not use this car, especially since I have a SR RWD...

One of the key things stated is that parts have VARIATION. Obviously this is not something anyone wants, but it happens.

but… what could possibly be different in vehicles produced for overseas export?

Absolutely, but NHTSA is only going to be tracking US vehicles. I'm sure the EU/Canadian recall will follow, with additional vehicles impacted.

EDIT: looks like NHTSAs document says there's been 286 warranty claims so far in North America . So sounds like it may include Canadian vehicles, but not European vehicles, which would be the bulk of the 50k non US vehicles.

DarkNStormy has been doing well. Getting about 246 miles of charge out of a full charge overnight on my Ford 48Amp charger. In stop and go traffic here in NOVA, regen is great ...it sips battery. I see the highest battery usage when I am at highway speeds. Loving this car with 5 dollar gas prices, could NOT have picked it up at better time. Getting windows tinted next week to cut down on interior heat.

So happy you are enjoying your car!

I have also been considering getting a tint. I only have to charge once a week around the city (it drops from 100% to 60-67%). Learning one pedal driving has been a god-send for battery regin. I am getting better at it, but it makes a huge difference.

I have been using 1 pedal driving for so long (have a Model 3 ATM), I try to use it in my wife's CX-5 and other ICE cars lol. End up doing a lot of coasting, maybe it helps a bit ?
