There have been reports of phantom opening, but critters should not be a factor. The sensor is only supposed to work when the key is within 3 feet of the hatch.

When I was depending on PaaK, the kick to open never worked when I really needed it. Now I have 2nd keyfob so I turned this function back on. It works fine.

Mine‘s always worked with the fob, too.

I had to reactivate it on my 2022 with FORSCAN since it comes disabled. Luckily the hardware was still in there. My only issue was at the manual carwash (where you go in a bay with the handheld powerwash gun); make sure you don't have the key/PAAK on you or else the trunk may open from the water.

As a few others have said, you’re not missing much. It works about half the time. And almost never when you’re arms of full of crap and you actually need it to.

By contrast, your 2023 comes loaded with BC1.2 and a slightly largely usable battery pack. So I’d say you came out ahead.

Well, except for the price. You guys got screwed on the price hikes.

Not fully on the price hikes -- Ford brought them down some after Tesla announced lower prices, even for folks who already ordered or picked up their 2023. Looking at the chart below, the Select eAWD Standard Battery (which I ordered on 8/30/22) had gone up $800 for 2023, but they've now cut $600 of that. With these price cuts, though, I would have considered the Premium (though admittedly I really don't want the low profile tires on the Premium, which was a draw of the Select. I know I can be rough on my tires).

I'm in the same boat - expected it to be on my MME Premium since it was on my last Ford Escape 2020. But gone. I really like the feature, but I also experienced failure of it on the Escape very often - it seemed to know when I had a bag of groceries in my hands! Or be finicky on cloudy days. So, missing the feature but not the frustration of it misbehaving!

I have a 22 model, and have been fighting to get it working, some times it´s works sometimes not !

Now I have found a solution make a straigt forward kick (not cirkling with your foot) , and it´s open and close every time, I am so happy

I have the same problem with tailgate will not keep the request to open high wants to open 6 inches. Rest it mant time to no avail I do ney have the kick to open feature

Chips in 2022. Removed in 2023.

Thanks for confirming. I thought I was losing my mind since I couldn't get it to work. Just assumed it was available, as most vehicles have the feature.

Works fine for me, with real key or phone key. Handy little feature. They should bring it back.
