No one can change how you react to the HVBJB issue but the facts are that the failure rate is around 0.5% or less than 300 events out of 50,000 Machs sold in North America. Out of those failures some were stranded but from my reading many occurred after getting home or at DCFC stations. Not pleasant in any case but not stranded in the middle of nowhere. I only recall one case reported where the battery was damaged during a tow but there were probably a few others. My point is this is not as prevalent as you make it sound; although, I agree it sucks for those who experience it.
We have seen only 0.5% so far? That is it there will be no more and the probability is low. Still a mystery for me; if these start to fall in numbers and not only DCFC and WOT produce it but also wear and tear it will not be a good look for Ford EV. It has been a limited response of a software fix to date which I hope does not snowball on them. How the problem reads in the recall is why I use the word limited. Everyone would be screaming that the part is not fast enough also is my guess but would have a completely different perspective. Time tells all.

Wish we knew what's the order of magnitude of the error in the design as that would tell a lot. Not like they have not known this since the first ones came out and Ford has determine this is the correct path. They have been working on the software for a while is my guess. Guess you believe until facts tell you don't. No sense worrying about little things you can not change it does not help and life is too short. Lets see who can melt the most contacts. I don't want to be that guy but no problems trying.

Obviously a bit more disruptive but failure = go to dealer and have HVBJB replaced on warranty. Recall of part (if it ever happens) = go to dealer and have HVBJB replaced. New software only makes failure more of a soft landing.

Could it be that it’s already installed?

Ford dug itself into this hole by having cars fall so far behind with updates. Seriously, if updates were happening in a timely manner, there would be no need to catch cars up with months old updates before the critical fix can actually be applied. Ford really really really needs to get it's shit together.

Do we know why they aren't pushing updates out faster? Can the systems just not support the load? I'd have to guess it's some legacy infrastructure that just can't support it.

They hired Doug Field, you'd think his first priority would be getting that shit beefed up. And hopefully once cars are catching up on updates, Ford could finally start having fewer and fewer bugs and glitches with these cars and their software. Really makes you wonder how many of these problems are due to mismatched versions of software, because they are dragging updates out so long.

I'm a job 1 Mach E, that STILL doesn't even have bluecruise.

Doesn't seem like Doug Field has done diddly-squat to improve the OTA system for the Mach-E.

My car has never received an OTA update. I ended up buying an FDRS license due to frustration and a poor dealer experience when I purchased the car that made me never want to go there again.

The irony is, I chose a Ford over a Tesla specifically because I thought Ford's service system was an advantage over the lack of service centers for Tesla in my area (closest one 2 hours away.)

I'm going to keep driving my Mach e "like I stole it," because everything is under warranty. If it breaks I would rather happen now as inconvenient as it may be than later out of warranty. We don't know if Ford will ever issue an actual hardware fix so for now I am just going to drive the vehicle like it was meant to be driven. ?. ????

Going to a dealer to apply updates sort of defeats the point. We were sold cars we were told would be updatable over the air. Doug Field, I assume, was hired to help Ford produce what they sold to customers. Hopefully he gets it done sooner than later. Otherwise, each major issue that has a software update will be like pulling teeth to actually get done in a reasonable amount of time.

We were part of the "rare" group this week. Traveled from Maryland to NJ (planned to stay 1 week), arrived on Sunday, and used a DCFC. Started the car remotely while it was on the charger, left the station to pick up some groceries. Parked at a shopping area, and upon returning to the car, it wouldn't start again. Had to have it towed to a dealership after hours, used several Ubers, got a rental for the week, etc.

Fortunately, I just got a call from the dealership that they finished the repairs and we can pick it up this evening. Previously we had been trying to figure out how to get the three of us back to Maryland, and for me to somehow get back here to pick up the car three weeks from now.

Repair was under warranty of course, but the total cost to us ended being close to $600.

Premium AWD from Apr 2021; 25k miles; only used DCFC 3x times, and this was the first time we hit the fastest charge rates.

Things don’t just immediately happen when a new lead gets hired. I’m sure he’s working more on the new updates coming for everyone for the UX and managing the Android transition.

Did Ford not reimburse you for your rental and travel expenses??

If Ford were smart, they'd replace the sync4 system on current Mach E's with android too. So they have one platform to focus on. Nothing better than Ford to stretch itself too thin, and cast sync4 users to the side, because the new android platform is the new hotness.
