10,300 units recalled, that's like $2 million down the drain for this almost pointless recall. I feel bad for the company and the CEO, they've been great so far.

To be clear, they have to recall them because Tesla was bitching the latch will hold back "only" 107 pounds of force after 10,000 cycles (which is about 1.5 million miles of charging) instead of 170 pounds of force. Not sure about you, but I don't plan on trying to yank out the connector with 170 pounds of force (who comes up with this?) while actively charging anytime soon. Tesla was also complaining because the adapter surface temp might get a whole 10ºF too warm after passing 500 amps (or about 200 kW @ 400V) for a whole hour straight. Boy, too bad I'll never get the chance to barely burn my finger after taking on 200 kWh of charge in an hour, that would almost be worth it.

Again, my personal opinion is the V1 A2Z adapter is perfectly safe and doesn't need to be recalled. My only gripe with is the latch is sometimes difficult to engage.

I'm going to keep mine to save them some money. I don't think they deserve this.

I would assume there is some ability to retrofit/recycle the returned units and it’s not going to be a 100% loss.

I agree they don't deserve this. Hopefully they had insurance to cover this.

The number comes right from the recall letter. I didn’t make it up.
you're assuming i was referring to the number when i wasn't. thanks for playing though.

After watching the video, I decided I wasn't going to wait any longer for Ford to get my my adapter in a timely manner. I went ahead and purchased a Typhoon Pro yesterday. It's already scheduled to arrive Tuesday.

I sincerely hope they get awarded contracts from some of the OEMs cause it seems their products are top notch with a great support team.

IMHO, the A2Z adapter products have been, and still are ‘topnotch!

A2Z takes great care to maintain very tight quality control, customer service, and affordable solutions.

in business, there are ‘intenders’, ‘pretenders’ and ‘contenders’…A2Z, ring a prime example of the latter, delivers…and Tesla was never supportive of them ‘being’ a viable supplier, and superior competitor in the adapter ‘space’…plain and simple!

I used my adapter significantly on several long-distance roadtrips this past summer, and the adapter performed admirably, ironically my favorite SCs were Tesla SCs.

Btw…still waiting on my “September-promised” Ford adapter??‍♂

considering these types of products are usually sold with a 100% markup over manufacturing costs they're most likely out their profits plus some overhead and possibly shipping costs on each unit replaced, assuming v1 and v2 units are similar manufacturing costs. recalls rarely reach 100% completion so they'll probably just break even on v1 sales overall.

while i also think tesla is being a bitch about it i do remember A2ZEV was hellbent on being the first mover in the space and took a risk.

my concern with the slide latch is that it relies on friction to stay in place and the mechanism they use will loosen up over time and less reliably stay in place to provide the lock on the NACS side.

couple that with the many comments about folks having problems getting the slide latch set correctly in the first place and over time it will just be more of an issue.

Keeping mine. I trust A2ZEV more than brand-T.

100% agree - keeping the OG 1st gen Typhoon - it's been true solid adapter since day 1.

Can’t wait to get my replacement that works better. Hopefully won’t have to beat it with a fist to get it to go in place like the original.

Why do you have a v2 if you're happy with the v1? Understandable why you're not exchanging since you already have a v2.
