Years ago a relative bought a "Jag-Uh-ARE". They proudly told me that you had to pay MSRP. I smiled, and picked up the phone and called the dealer, telling them I had just come into some money, wanted that model, and could be there tomorrow and I wanted to pay in "CAASSSHH". Could I get it for $2,000 under the sticker? "Sure, they responded." My relative was really pissed off.
Buy it in Northern California and drive it south. Have @markboris take you out for a beer. ;)

What if that ADM was presented to you at the last moment when you are picking up the car?
California car buyers bull of rights section:
“
Purchase Price Disclosure for Items Included in the Monthly Payment
The dealer must provide a written document with the price of specified items purchased and their effect on installment payments (California Civil Code §2982).

  • Items requiring disclosure include a service contract, insurance product, debt cancellation agreement (“gap” insurance), theft deterrent device, surface protection product, and contract cancellation option agreement.
  • No charges may be added to the contract without full disclosure and your consent.
  • The document must include the cost of the monthly installment payments with and without items listed
”
You can try to claim a violation since they were added without your consent. You didn’t say what the addons were.

He signed the contract. No one had a gun to his head. No duress. Thereby consent.

And they wouldn't mind to kick me out and keep the car

Not that it matters at this point but did you order it from them with the cost identified? I would think you would have recourse, even if you signed an agreement, if they added items after quoting you a price. That being said I would call this a lesson learned and do not use their services in the future! My wife works for our local dealer and we have purchased many cars over the years all a bit under dealer cost. I am hoping to not have any issues with purchase price in the future as she is retiring shortly.

Lots of dealers have always done this to make some extra gross profit on the deal because before the chip shortage new cars typically had no front end gross profit. Now they have an opportunity to make all the front end profit and charge extra for useless add-ons so they are taking advantage of that opportunity. Unfortunately they don't care if you buy it or not because like you said they'll kick you out and someone else will buy it.

The thing to do here is tell them you don't want the extras so you are a giving them a chance to remove them, when they refuse just buy the car if you want it. After the sale contact the GM of the store and complain that you were told take it or leave it and let the GM know you will be putting this in the Ford customer satisfaction survey and filing a complaint with the CA DMV.

Chances are the GM will have the contract re-written without extras or send you back some cash, if not then follow through on the Ford and DMV complaints - that will cost the dealer a lot more than they made on the extras.

And the Ford service contracts, if purchased way above what Flood and others charge, are cancellable. Maintenance contract is unnecessary and overpriced on ICE vehicles, and totally unnecessary on the Mach-E. IMO.

It looks like add-ons stopped being an option in California.... They doit to all the cars and clients have no choice to opt out...... Am I wrong? Somebody has a different experience?
I’m not clear whether your dealer charged ADM, added “enhancements” to your vehicle, or both. Was it just the add-on junk, or also a markup?

Apparently in CA every dealer adds add-on junk right when they get the car.... They don't care if the Customer wants it or not..........
Markup was $500.... They said that they need something .......

I'm in Central California and the dealers here suck w/ADM, but I know of dealers in both Northern and Southern Ca that don't play games and that is backed up by lots of people that have purchased from them. I decided to go North to get mine; few hours drive but worth it not to worry.

I disagree.... I think this matter has to be voiced and discussed. Before i agreed to those buying terms I've heard a lot of stories from other people. All dealerships do this ...... at least in SoCal
Fortunately for us, we didn’t get any add-ons or ADM when we picked up our order from Ed Butts Ford in La Puente. Our sales person, Amir and the Dealership honored our X-Plan through work, and worked with us to go through Ford Credit for purchase. Never was there a discussion about add-ons or unnecessary warranties.

Granted, we worked closely with our Sales Rep and was in constant communication whenever we had questions or concerns.

they prefer you to finance. I never disclose that I'm paying cash until I decide to do so. They like to wrap you into their financing to get your interest money too. Cash is not king anymore. Cash is only good for private sales these days.
