the other thing I noticed on the Google blog was that your car key will be available to me it looks like wallet. Although it is not mentioned what brands will support the Google key

Introducing the wallet idea is good, more redundancy means it's more reliable. The PAAK doesn't work part of the time for me so I carry the key in my manpurse so walking to the car always unlocks it.

I also have a roof rack on my mach e, I wonder if google maps will give the option of additional drag such as that, kind of like what the paying subscription of ABRP has

If they could only add it into car play with Google maps it would be great. I personally like Google maps better than Apple's maps.

This 100%. Google Maps has a way better search function and UI layout than Apple Maps. I tried using Apple Maps for the battery stats integration for a few months in my wife’s Mach-E but ended up giving up and going back to Google Maps namely because of the less than reliable searches in Apple Maps.

digital key is emerging tech and not available on many current phones. volvo is the only manufacturer mentioned specifically.

So likely it won't come to cars like ours, exciting to see a standard being formed though.

Glad to see y'all so excited about a battery info feature being integrated in AA. So rad. Makes me wonder if we've seen an invention anything like this in decades, at least since humans first stepped on the Moon.

Wow this is great news, I thought Android Auto already had it with Google Maps since it was a native app. I must of read it somewhere.

My Hummer has it natively, including using Google as the trip planner.

I use Waze (also owned by Google) but Maps still has the edge when it comes to navigation. That's what makes the SoC integration so meaningful.

I also use Waze for real time navigation. Has always been better for me. But I use ford for the charging and preconditioning. So in reality this doesn’t help me lol.

Really trying to not buy another MachE. I have this weird dislike buying two of the same thing, you only live once but we love the MachE so much I’d snag another.

Granted it is a value-add (feature) for our cars. Like the NACS connector is.

But still unsure why we feed mediocrity by celebrating such relatively straighforward (and expected) improvements with so much vigor. Ford absolutely needs to step up their game, considering there has been almost zero progress on major items in the past 3 years with the MachE.

Google's post also mentions that Ford's first vehicles with Google built-in will start rolling out later this year. I'm sure the Mach-E won't be one of the first ones, but this will be interesting to keep track of nonetheless.

I doubt Google wallet will ever be enabled for our cars. The Mach E uses bluetooth. Google wallet for car keys looks to be for NFC or Ultra-wideband (UWB) only.
