The only problem with EVGo currently is their deployment pattern. They seem to be focused on the bigger cities and not in the gaps in between. So, it works for road trips, sometimes.

I'm going along with Bill, Mike, Steve and Pat..... and I have had no issues at all when using EVgo stations. I have their Autoharge+ enabled and just plug in and the car starts charging. No app to mess with or anything. I prefer using them over EA when I can because Autocharge+.

EVGo sucks! It’s not your Mach-E’s fault, it’s their chargers.

Even on the infrequent occasions when they work, their chargers are limited to 50 kW. I usually pass on them unless I have no choice.
It’s so strange the different experiences. I charge at an EVGo station in Daytona every so often and it’s always the highest speed I get from any charger. Peaks at 162 for a few minutes. I’ve only once pulled up and had an issue but switched stations and it worked. I’ve found them more reliable, but, the most reliable so far overall has been the FPL stations around Florida.

Update. EVGO was down when I needed charging.
I can't believe I am going to say this but that is the one plus with EA. They have a smart business person who decided chargers should allow charging even when the network is down. Smart because next road trip you'll likely avoid EVGo, but be excited when you got a free charge at EA. Now finding a working EA station that charges at full speed is where you need to roll the dice.

EVGO is really not doing a good job. Honestly, I don’t want to charge at Tesla chargers, but it might soon be the only major player in the space in the US.
Just had to charge at a Tesla station. The first three “posts” (Tesla’s term for their dispensers) would not release the magic jack, the fourth one worked like a charm. I had the Tesla app already installed and once connected charged at 150 Kw with no issues. Charging experience as it should be. I will be happy when I can forget about EA and my poor customer experiences with them - last 2 charges at 75 KW max.

I was not able to use the Ford Pass auto charge at an EVGO, and ended up paying with a credit card because we were desperate. The charge was about $25.00 for a 30 minute charge to 80%, which seemed really high.

Sounds like EVGo is improving. But my early experience with them wasn’t promising. And I can’t help but think that the reason there are fewer lines of cars waiting to charge is their less than stellar reputation…!

Their chargers are slower than EA, and their locations are biased towards big cities and urban centers. That might impact your overall experience. But the reliability is heads and shoulders over EA.

Does your Sync have the "Charge Assist" app ?

If so, you can use that to find, select, and start the charge at EVGo (and any other non Ford network).

It will charge your credit card on file with Ford.

Is anybody else having massive charging issues using EVGO? I tried THREE different charging locations, and each one tells me there is a fault. Other cars can charge, but our good old Mach-Es cannot. Yes, I clicked activate when I got there, and then I plugged in, and it errors out.

This is ridiculous...Do you have any thoughts or advice, or should I drive the Mach e into the ocean?
Did you check if there were other reports of the problem on PlugShare?

I just completed a 3,200 mile road trip from San Diego to Whitefish Montana. I stopped at about 18 charging stations there and back, finishing up at the EVgo station near my Apartment. I never had one issue on the entire trip. 90% using EA. The only issue I had was an EA station in Henderson Nevada where it worked fine, but over charged me. I called EA while I was still plugged in and they started a refund procedure for the overage. I have the ER battery of 91 kw. I started out with 17% SOC and ended with 83% SOC. Somehow EA said they put 97 kw in my MME. Overall, I had a great road trip and I'll never be afraid to take my MME on any length of a drive. It did at times get down to 10 degrees at night and was mostly 25 to 35 degrees in the daytime. I was able to plug in at night at my airbnb. I got home last night and now I need to get to a carwash......
