Battery balancing service?

I just dropped off my 2021 GTPE with 27000 miles off for the charge cord recall. They recommended a battery balancing service as recommended maintenance. Can someone tell me what that is and do I need it?

That sounds really fishy. I've never heard of such a service before. I really question whether that's even a real thing. The BMS in the car should already balance the cells, because that is required in Lithium batteries.

Hopefully, one of the more knowledgeable forum members will see this post and double-check this.

I Googled and all I can come up with is a Hybrid battery balance in FORscan. But, the MME is not a Hybrid ...

Open your manual, or FordPass, and find that. You won't. It's like when they want to do a power flush of your transmission. Run, run, as fast as you can.

OK, that’s bullshit because the battery management system already does that. Cells are constantly being balanced while the car is parked. There isn’t even a balancing procedure they can do, totally bogus.

They must need some kind of service to charge you for since EVs don’t really need maintenance.

Blinker fluid ? However, it is very important to replace the air in your tires every 10k miles, especially for EVs

I'd ask them who recommends that as maintenance. If Ford does, can they show you some documentation of it in the service manual or something?

Ask them what they even do. Like exact steps. Such a joke to even offer something like this that they can't even do and the car does already.

Its like when places charge for TPMS relearn even though Fords since about the early 2010's re-learn the sensors automatically after 2 minutes of driving.

Ask them to check the exhaust bearings and tighten the widget arm while they're at it. Then tell them to f*** right off and go somewhere else.

The service advisor that recommended it by phone wasn't there when I dropped off the car. The ones there couldn't explain to me what is was and didn't have a technician available at the time.
