Since my Mach-E has been sitting at the dealer now for 30 days, I thought I would provide an update and cautionary tale. 30 days ago, Ford Roadside destroyed my battery trying to tow it with a dead 12 volt system. Also now sitting at the dealer is the $23k replacement battery. Apparently when Ford modeled Tesla, they also included the terrible service stories.

Ford claims they do not have the "tools" in the US to replace a battery. At the earliest they are now telling me it will be December 9th before they can get them from Rotunda and that they have no control over it. It seems that none of their EV certified dealers have the ability to replace a battery. Seems a large oversight for a car launch to me. Made in Mexico means it can only be repaired in Mexico as well.
That's definitely not true. I got a HV battery module pair replaced by my dealer... Although it did take 50+ days due to battery supply and dolly availability at the dealer.

When you say "Ford", who have you been working with? Sounds like the dealer you have is feeding you some ? I'd call around to see if others may have a dolly...

I have Ford involved through this forum and through Twitter. They created a case and I have someone who calls me regularly. They are parroting the same crud that the dealer is about the "tools". I am in Indianapolis.
Crap. Okay. Well that sucks and they should figure out a solution. Make your payment at least. It really isn't that difficult to swap that thing. At least it looks feasible in the WSM?

Have they at least given you another vehicle to use since yours is undrivable?

I've spoken with that team before. Very little knowledge and just an impediment to getting things done. Sorry to hear about this. Have you tweeted the Ford Execs directly. They're twitter's have been shown on this Forum many times?

One of them is involved now as well. Hopefully their team can sort it out.

There is a saying "If they won't see the light, let them feel the heat". At this point, I would either be getting a lawyer or the media involved. Perhaps both. You have been beyond patient. Ford has caused you harm by damaging your car and putting it out of service. Shine some light on this with some public tweets to Ford executives, get whatever local media you have involved. Reach out to Kevin Hunter's team on YouTube and see if they will put some sunlight on this problem, etc.

The towing companies insurance did get me a rental. Been hard to pay gas prices again!
I drove to the Wawa to grab a sandwich last night. Gas was over $3.50/gallon! I think I’ve spent less than $200 on electricity for my car this year ? and MY electricity comes from nice, safe, clean, renewable nuclear power, not that nasty coal or natural gas junk ?

I can recall at least one member of a forum that had their battery replaced and that was months ago. so I think someone's feeding you a line. That said. it's probably a good idea to start thinking lemon law.

I just got a call from the dealer. The tools were miraculously located over night and the car will be done Monday. That turned around fast. I'm not going to count my chickens though, they have given me dates before only to find out they had the wrong thing.

Would it still be considered a lemon if it was damage that cause the issues rather than a factory defect?

Ha I would have told them to screw off and give me my car and I would have driven it. I saw the pictures I don't think it was truly a safety hazard. I also live by the seat of my pants so YMMV.

Glad they finally got the tools but that was total BS. Many people have had packs replaced so I'm sure you could have found another dealer.
