Maybe i am an idiot, maybe not..
But, last week, one of my kids want to go inside the car, and i did not pay attention, I did not see him, and the car was running, with the back door open..
I could catch him under the car.
This I think is a very big issue, the message with door open was to late. And the car start.

I do not have any idea if my car is defective, or someone from Ford, just forgot this.
Because, i test the front door, and the car won't go anywhere, is blocked. So, the question here, why this is working for the driver door, but not for the others door???
Is it ok to drive with a door open??

I think all of you can test this, and at least you will know what to watch...

Yes you can drive with the back door open.

I’m pretty sure that’s true for every car.

The inability to drive with the drivers door open is a somewhat unique safety feature to electric Cars. Likely because they’re so quiet, people forgot to put them in park and tried to get out.

I’ve never had that feature in any other car.

It is a driver door safety only. And you can easily bypass it.

The back doors have child safety locks that should be used if you are concerned about children unsafely exiting the vehicle. At least the US models have them.

I think most cars run with the back doors open. Think about the guy Leaving Home Depot in his little sedan with some large Box 1/2 out of the car's backseat, bungy corded so it won't fall out LOL!!!

why are they always 10 year old corollas???

How do you bypass being able to move the vehicle with the drive’s door open. There’s been a few times I’ve wanted to do this but couldn’t.

Not my back door, but I drive with the rear hatch open, or partially open quite a bit. In a pinch grabbing my kids bikes near by, bike hangs out the rear hatch, lower most of the way, drive home. Then when you flip to reverse your camera is pointing at sky and tree tops and you get confused for a second.

I believe the car will not move with a drivers side door open and 1-Pedal drive active. I found this out myself trying to back the Mach-E in to a tight spot and I had to open the drivers door... the car would not move. Taking it out of 1-Pedal I was able to roll with the drivers door open.

You also could have kept it in 1-pedal and just shifted back to Drive to move the car with the door open. The car doesn't care which drive mode it's in. It will always auto-shift to Park when the driver's door is opened. Once open, you can always shift back to Drive if you wish.

Alot of ford vehicles inhibit driver door , when trans is not in park - may stop flash warnings etc, most brands do it now

Every car makes a sound that I remember when a door is open and car running.

It’s the stopping and shifting to park that seems to be more for EVs. Do you know of any gas powered cars that do this?
