I sort of agree -- The only advantage is being able to take your hands off the wheel. I don't see the benefit. Then again, I haven't tried it yet. ?‍♂
This weekend I had a 2 hour trip. First hour I was able to use bluecruise and the second hour I was not able to but Lane centering was still active.

The first hour flew by. It was like I was in a hypnotic state. (Not unsafe though I still reacted when needed) but the second hour I kept thinking about how much my brain was "awake" having to make those micro adjustments to the wheel.

Seems so minor..but it really makes a difference and a trip using bluecruise is really a treat and you need to experience it.

My favorite usecase for it has been ~30 miles of stop and go traffic. I don't care about "driving" when I'm in that and it actually feels a lot less stressful when you mentally and physically detach from the misery of variable 0mph => 10mph for an hour in a 460hp car.
Adaptive cruise control does make stop and go much more tolerable. I assume bluecruise would make it even better. Of course you can use adaptive cruise control just about anywhere as long as there are lines painted on the road.

I'm anxiously waiting for it's delayed arrival. Maybe we received tic-tac-toe to practice with, so when BC arrives we will be masters while driving. No one will beat me now. :)

I hope you mean adaptive cruise control rather than regular cruise control. With regular cruise control the car will keep in the lane while it runs into the stopped car in the fog.
I think you know the answer to that. Adaptive is the new standard for regular cruise control. That one actually adds value so there’s no reason to turn it off. Except for the fact that it drives like someone who just got their license lol

My MEe Premium is equipped and ready for the BlueCruise OTA. I understand it will arrive right after the Great Pumpkin shows up in Linus' pumpkin patch.

I hear great anticipation for its arrival in this and other forums and it makes me wonder what we get with it? I find the adaptive cruise control to be a nice advancement over my older cars so I wonder what more is there?

I see the ads for GM Cruise (whatever they call their hands-free cruise control) They seem to focus on the option for playing paddy cake or doing an endless version of slap, slap, clap to that Queen song. That'll make the miles melt away on a long road trip. ;-))

Is hands-free the best part of BlueCruise? Why? What better place do YOU have for your hands while in the car?

What am I missing here?
I don't really get it either. Apparently there is a growing expectation that people want cars to drive themselves and this could be a step in that direction. I like the driving aids that I have now but even those aren't able to drive better and more safely than I can. I use the aids when conditions are appropriate and take over when needed. Having my hands on the wheel is a very important part of my driving style and adds a tremendous amount of extra safety to my commute.

I will not be paying for the Blue Cruise feature if/when it becomes available to me.

My favorite part of Blue Cruise is that Ford gave me a $100 discount for it not being ready and not charging me $600 for it. Most of my driving is on surface streets, so I may have less than a dozen opportunities to use it over its 3 year subscription.

I see the value in adaptive cruise control having used it on long journeys and found them less mentally tiring. I also find my commutes into the city significantly less tiring with adaptive cruise control I can definitely see how BlueCruise will reduce stress even more in those situations.

I bought it just for amusement. I would never trust BlueCruise with my life - the technology isn't nearly ready yet. Years away, probably decades.

But it's fun to try it out and see what it can do, whether it improves a little over time, etc. It has no practical value whatsoever, for me.

I like it, but does anyone else feel that it weaves in the lane too much on the highway? I feel like someone is gonna think I’m driving drunk. It does stay well within the lane, but BlueCruise feels like I’m basically in a big pinball machine bouncing between the lines.

A big problem I’ve noticed is that I can’t use BC or cruise control and have my hand on top of the steering wheel because it blocks the eye sensors. You basically can’t have your hands between the 10 and 2 position at all. Oh, and if you take a drink of coffee it freaks out too.

Has great potential, but I’m not sure it’s there yet for busy highways. Where I live there is always traffic on every highway so I can’t truly enjoy the handsfree anyway - take my opinion with a grain of salt.

I guess I really just need to try it out. Ford should offer a 1-week trial :)

My interest is that sometimes I finish work at midnight or one in the morning and have a two-hour drive home. When the time comes, I'll try it in case I doze off.

Then why do they even offer regular mindless cruise control anymore?

BlueCruise is hands free. Period. Rest is adaptive cruise and lane centering.

Mine came with Blue Cruise already activated. At least once a week I get stuck in traffic jam as my commute takes me on two major freeways where people drive like idiots. hitting the blue cruise button and going completely hands free until traffic clears has taken that part of my commute from a major p.i.t.a. to completely stress free. As far as long drives, I use it but keep my hands on the wheel, just because I don't have any place else to put them. Not having to make continuous micro-corrections actually frees up my concentration so I can be more attentive to what's going on further ahead. For me there's a mental shift from paying attention to the car to paying attention to the road ahead and looking out for problems. It makes me feel both safer and less fatigued.

I also went though that whole queen song clapping once. That wasn't safe. I'm not sorry.
