I want to put another Emporia Smart Charger at the cabin, but I need at least 30' on the charge Cord. Emporia says they can't do a longer cable, so I'm looking at an extension, like the Inteset Tech. 12' extension. Just wondering if anyone has used these, other ideas, thoughts, whatever, I'm all ears. I'll only be charging at ~30A, so don't need the heavier cable, and it will be an occasional application, not every day.

When I had my ChargPoint Home Flex charger for all of 2021, I needed to be able to charge on both sides of the garage. The charger was on the right side wall. I bought this extension cord and used it quite extensively when I parked on the opposite wall of the charger or had others here charging. It is not cheap but worked great. In 2022, I sold the ChargePoint and extension cord and put in two Emporia chargers, one on each side wall.

One used my Lectron 20’ J-1772 extension cord quite a bit. I often have used it to charge our Lightning when the portable L2 wasn’t long enough when camping. I even use it a fair bit at home to charge the truck while it’s parked in a way that doesn’t block the Mach E from driving in and out of the carport.

I’d stick with a known brand though. Never heard of Inteset Tech.

Is your charger hardwired? I have a CircleCord 50A UL-listed heavy duty RV extension cable that gives me another 10 feet from my outlet to my Emporia. Over a year and never an issue. Doesn’t get hot - it’s a heavier cable than the pigtail on the Emporia.

Hey Mark, just wanted to comment on Inteset Technology. I'm willing to bet not many here knew about the company A2Z EV either before they started selling adapters that many of us wanted.

Inteset Technology is a small family run business that has been around a couple of years longer than A2Z and while they have very few products, they are all of good quality. They manufacture their EV extension cables in Boston and the parts are sourced from the US. They are UL Listed. Just didn't want anyone to think they were some fly by night company.

I haven't installed it yet, but it will be hard-wired.

Thanks everyone for the input! I'll proceed with the 12' Inteset.

I've been using this one for over a year now and it's been awesome.

I have a Wallbox Plus and it will reach the Mach-E fine. So when I need to charge the Lightning parked on the other side of the Mach-E, I disconnect the Wallbox cable from the car and just plug it into the extension cord that's connected to the Lightning. No issues, and no charging faults ever.

Just a small clarification….they are made with UL-listed components, but the assembly itself is not UL-listed.
There is no UL standard for this type of cord, so listing isn’t possible.
Having said that, the Inteset product is as good as you’ll get when it comes to a quality product using listed components.

I've had that J1772 extension for years (we don't even own the Bolt or the Mach-E anymore) and have used it all over the place. If I keep looking I can probably find pics of our old C-Max and/or our old Focus Electric charging with it too.
