Ford Tech called me. We went over what the symptoms were with my car.

He said it does not look like a problem with the JuiceBox EVSE and that I should make an appointment with my dealer to have the charge port inspected.

The only question I had that was not really answered was why this started immediately after all the software updates were installed.

I have the same contact cleaner and used it on both the car charger port and the EVSE. Did not help mine at all.

I will call the dealership next week.

Jim
Yeah, it didn't help mine, either. Worth a try.

I have a Grizzl-E unit that today charges for an hour and then stops. I took out the supplied Ford charger and that is working okay. Is it a defective Grizzl-E or did something change in the handshaking with non-Ford units? I like keeping my Ford unit with the vehicle, but does this mean I have to purchase another OEM unit?

Try changing it to 32 amps, that worked for me. See my earlier post in this thread on why it's happening.

Thanks for the suggestion. That is why the Ford unit works as that is a 32A. I've set the Grizzl-E to 32A and so far so good. When set at 40 the temp at the charging port is very warm. Why did it work for over 1 year and only now start to be an issue?

I've read that a fair number of owners have had their charge ports replaced, maybe there's corrosion or some other reason that resistance has increased. If you read my earlier posts I monitored a couple of temperature sensors and, at higher amperages, the temperature was getting very high. I'm not sure where those sensors are located so I don't know if the cooling system is failing to keep those components at a reasonable temperature or if they're not cooled by the car at all.

I dropped my ChargePort down to 40A from 48A and made it through a complete charge session from 77% to 90% without a fault. I suspect that if it had a longer charge period, it probably would have faulted.

I'm scheduled for an appointment in early July.

The dealer looked at the fault codes and confirmed the high temp cut out was triggered. Not sure why it did.

Also reports that software uploads from Ford are failing even after 2 days of downloading. Software engineers are scrambling to fix it. And so it goes.

So I'm waiting for Grizzl-E to send a replacement, but now it's over heating at 32A. I'll switch to the Ford supplied system to see if it's the charger or vehicle. Frustrating.

So, I received the replacement unit from Grizzl-E, and it still overheats and shuts down. Back to the dealer.

Same here. Two new Grizzl-e and overheats on 32A now. Not as often but still does. Noticed it's on really hot days when car is in garage. I now set schedule to cut off after 2 hours then charge again a few hours later. Will advise dealer again.

I'm wondering if the Grizzl-E's ship with a bad J1772 connector that makes a poor connection?

Try a different brand charger. If it still overheats then you need a new charge port.

Anyone else? My issue returned. Was fine for several weeks but it came back. Using a dumb Grizzl-E 40 A. I happened to be in the garage when it turned off tonight. When unplugged, I touched the car in between the charging pins and it was burn your hand hot.
Me, too. Summer weather doesn't help. My level 2 charging is still failing on various chargers. Behaviour changed this week, I no longer get the flashing red ring when if fails, but it still fails after a short time and I get a notification "Scheduled charging failed to start."

We have a PRIMECOM charger (as Ford had pulled their charger from the market when we got our car delivered). We got the Mach-E last March (2021) and didn't have this problem until January 2022 when the car went in for the system update.
I also have a primecom powering station. It is a 40 AMP Level 2 Home Charging station. I have used since first receiving my First Edition Mache back in March 2021. It has worked without issue until a recent software update. It now can only charge for 5 to 10 minutes at a time before I get a charge fault error. I now need to use the 32 AMP Ford mobile charger that came with the car. Thankfully, that works, although takes a bit longer to charge. I called primecom and they believe it has to do with the recent mache update. Unfortunately, I cannot lower the amperage to 32A on the primecom powering station. I really hope Ford makes an update to fix this issue that is affecting many of us.

Another problem is the overheating that now occurs on level 2 charging causes additional issues, such as door buttons and other chip-controlled items to fail, as well as warping of plastic elements on the driver's side nearest to the charging port. I have a warped door pillar now.

I spoke too soon. The red ring still shows up most of the time when it fails.
