I just bought a CR1 and was wondering if you carry a charger in your Mach-E. Is there value in having one readily available?

Thanks!

I have a 110/220 set that came with the car. It fits under the cargo area floor nicely, and will be nice to have if I'm ever stuck in an area without fast charging or if I'm charging at a family or friend's home.
I've used the mobile charger to 120V charge at a family member's home a few times... Though strictly speaking it wasn't necessary based on the limited drives I took while visiting.

Nice to have for the potential emergency and peace of mind, though.

I thought of that, but how many houses have a 14-50 outlet readily available? And using a 110v outlet at someone's house is sort of pointless, in my view, because it would take several days to charge the MME.

I carry it in the frunk but I have only ever used it a couple of times in the past 2 years. But it is nice to have just in case. I thought about only carrying it with me when on long road trips, but that means I would have to remember to put it in the car before the trip. The reason I keep it in the frunk is that if I am on a road trip and need it, I don't want it to be buried under the luggage. I also keep the tire inflator kit up front as well (and a couple of camping chairs that are useful for Cars & Coffee).

Oh yeah, the charger is my last resort. I may never use it, but since there aren't always working fast chargers everywhere I need them, the peace of mind that I have an emergency backup is good.

Anyone who bought a 2021 or 2022 got the Ford Mobile Charger included. Ford made it optional, for an extra $500, in 2023.

If you don't go on a trip, there is no need for a charger in the vehicle. You will rarely find a 14-50 outlet, and 110v charging for an hour or two is a waste of time.

If you travel, having an ADJUSTABLE 220v charger is a good idea, plus the appropriate outlet adapters. Some RV parks will have a 30amp circuit available, which means you need to set the charger to 24amps. The Ford Mobile Charger can't be adjusted, and it's not reliable.

In 25,000 miles, we've used ours as follows:

- Campground where we stayed in a cabin, charged overnight in an RV spot with permission.
- Our son's house, on 110v, for days, because we weren't going anywhere.

I tried it once to make sure it works. Otherwise, I have no use for it. I would not buy it if it didn’t come with the vehicle.

You don't need to fully charge the battery on 110v, only get enough to reach a fast charger.

I didn't use mine but it is in the unopened bag in the car.

I carry my Ford charger in the trunk as well as a 20ft 14-50 extension cord. I've only used it when visiting my parents. They live about 150 miles away from me in the middle of nowhere, so it comes in handy for that use case.

I keep the EVSE that came with my cars in the cars.

So far they only get used in two scenarios

1. Work has a 14-50 receptacle I plug into to get some free to me electricity on the days I go into the office.
2. We travel and stay somewhere where I plug into 120v to get what charge I can, and if plugged in long enough, I skip a DCFC session on the return home.

Drive to Florida to visit son for a week. Plug in. Get 1.1kW per hour. Go somewhere each day for a few hours. Plug in when you get back. By the time you go to leave, at 100%.
