For the third time since buying my MME I have hit/been hit by road debris.

1. Less than a mile from the dealer, having owned the car for 5 minutes, a styrofoam cooler lid flies off of cooler that was in the back of a truck in front of me and slams into the front of the MME. No apparent damage.

2. While on the interstate in some of the worst rain I have every driven in, something, again about the size of a cooler lid, was suddenly in front of me flying in the air and slammed into the front of the car. No apparent damage.

3. Tuesday of this week I am merging onto the interstate and something rubbery fell off the truck in front of me and slammed into the front of the car. I was glancing back making sure it was clear to merge and had no idea it was coming until I heard the bang. Luckily very minor damage.

Scuffed/gouged the black trim at the very bottom of the bumper and a small paint chip.

Can anyone make out the email or phone number on the truck? 678-??3-4101. The item that fell off is circled. I am not looking to get it repaired just might call the owner and let them know they need to secure their loads or they might end up paying for repairs or worse killing someone.

Well since its a fast car you inevitably end up behind someone as you catch up...never clear road.

Go slower so you don't catch up to people ;)

I would call the GSP and let them know what happened and give them the Tag # TFV4618

Your insurance company should be able to help you out if you file a claim.

I feel like the repair process would be way more painful than the results I would see from the repair.

I see a lot of posts on Fords, not just the Mach-E, where people claim the glass is soft, the paint is soft, and the vehicle attracts more road debris damage. I guess since the last non-Ford I owned I sold over a decade ago, I haven't had that experience.

Just drove 4,700 miles. Did I get some paint chips on the front bumper, and maybe the hood? Yes. Did it seem like it was a Mach-E thing, that if I had driven something else it wouldn't have been hit? No.

Was mostly said tongue in cheek.

I have just had three incidents of bad luck with road debris in less than 2 years.

Ah.

I hit a small animal with my 2021, barely hit it. Took out the bottom spoiler and the vanes, spent $250 comprehensive deductible, but almost $2k total cost.

I see a lot of complaining across forums and social media about the car attracting damage though.

This is true with all modern cars, some brands are a little worse than others but cars chip. I should have ponied up for PPF.

One other thought is the MME has aluminum fenders and hood. Also, very thin doors are susceptible to door dings easily.

Anything on the road is magnetized to my grille vents. So far no damage but man I cringe every time.

In PHX it's not uncommon to see aluminum ladders, PVC pipe, even clothes driers fly out of the back of trucks or off the roof of the 'repair guy' that strapped it to a Prius and hopped on the freeway. Never mind the tons of rock we line every inch of the freeway with here.

Some would argue that the last two letters of the manufacturer’s name stand for “Road Debris.” You can imagine the first two words of the acronym. ??

I have tuned my driving habits from years of Motorcycle Riding. Decrease your following distance or pass vehicles that could pose a danger. (Work vehicles with loads, unsecured garbage, semis/gravel trucks, mattresses strapped to roof, fenders/bumpers/skid plates flapping in wind....etc) I don't like to follow cube vans, that I can't see in front of. I avoid being behind or in the blind spot of "New" drivers (They require a sticker where I live). Generally treat everyone on the road as if there are trying to harm the finish of your car. That being said, the odd windshield and paint chip is inevitable.

I noticed many more paint chips further up the hood than I expected today. And lots of nicks, smudges, and splotches on the front grill.

What I really notice being attracted to the car is large trucks. 3 times I've been near squished into the guard rail by semi trucks merging into the (prohibited) fast lane. And not even when I'm driving like a jackass.
