Somehow this happened when it was being delivered to the dealer. So far my options have been to order a 2022 and have it "fast-tracked" to February-ish or wait for the dealership to find another one. Won't hold my breath.

Definitely happens but they are field replaceable, but my guess is the dealer wants you to walk away. After you walk, they fix it and resell it as new with a nice markup. New buyer will never know as this repair does not have to be disclosed.

I would ask them fix it and if it’s perfect pay and drive away.

just my 2 cents

Thanks. Seems fishy so I am pushing them to just fix it.

I would do the same. Looks like the damage is isolated to the glass roof, so they replace that and you should be good to go. Then, never use that stealership again.

Wow that's absolute crappy luck. However, I'm in agreement with the others here - request the repair and proceed with purchase. Do NOT sign the finance paperwork until the roof is fixed.

Ouch! But I agree... I'd have them replace the roof. That wouldn't be difficult and the car would be perfect.

Is that hail damage? (or someone got a hammer?)
I'm going to assume transport carrier issue. Either the hydraulics went out or someone wasn't paying attention.

Did the dealer accept it? If so, they intend to sell it.

Yep, that's the gist that I got from the dealer.
As other's have stated, sorry that happened. There's two concerns that I would have given that it's happened like that.
  1. The weight of the vehicle on top doing damage to the frame, which should be obvious when a new roof is put on.
  2. If it shows up as an accident or as a "service item" on carfax. Many dealers now report much smaller items to carfax. My vehicle had "nitrogen tire fill" as a service on my carfax report.
If it were I, I would wait. But most people feel otherwise, and I respect that.

Had that happen with mine as well during transport to the dealer. They were able to get a replacement roof sent in and have a local shop do the replacement within the space of a couple weeks, so it's definitely fixable.
