Ford Connected Charger any good?

Anyone have or tried this Charger from Ford? It comes with a 3 yr warranty according to Ford

It's fine. ChargePoint Home Flex is probably the better choice if you can find one at its normal MSRP or less.

Search the forum. You will find all you need to know about EVSEs...

Before you buy ANY charger:

1) check with your utility company to see if they provide rebates for specific brands and models

2) determine the best buy for your money. It isn't the Ford charger.

3) see what capabilities the apps provide. If the app is FordPass, then...

4) understand who will provide phone support to you, and whether they'll be knowledgeable

5) as previously recommended, search the forum for threads that discuss chargers, including this one.

If I had it to do over, I wouldn’t buy it again. It charges the car just fine, but the connectivity and reporting features have issues.

No do not invest a penny in this Ford charger. I have one, it was free and a ChargePoint I purchased. . Get a ChargePoint, Grizzly or other retail brand for sure. The Ford one provides you no usefull data, gives no status updates, gives no cost to charge data.

Here is an example of the data from ChargePoint Vs Ford…. The “light gray“ is all you get from the Ford, and it updates hours after charging. It gives you nothing LIVE. The rest is what ChargePoint gives you…. And much much more.

if you want a really good smart charger that plugs in to Nema 14-50 I bought the Wallbox Pulsar Plus for $599 and its really good and gives you all the reporting. They may offer a hardwired unit as well not sure.

The Wallbox is good, but it doesn't quite give you all the reporting. There's still no way to natively see a graph of a charging session.

Yup. No graph for an individual session.

Amazon has the Wallbox for $600-40 Amp with Nema 14-50 or $700-48 Amps but must be hardwired

i am also looking into the Juicebox but that charger is Max 40 Amps for$649

These 2 are my final choices before buying but jLeaning towards the Wallbox though

Check with your electrical provider for a rebate

Make sure you use the highest quality plugs if you get a plug installed. Get the right breaker. Don't go cheap on the gauge of wire

Ford charger is not the best choice

I'm happy with it. My utility paid for all or most of it. It integrates into FP and is easy to use. I don't have time or care much for better graphs other chargers provided so its not that important to me.

So I made contact with SMUD.........found out they offer $500 for a Charger, $500 for installation granted you must provide DMV paperwork, etc....

I am going with the Juicebox

CT does something similar-$500 rebate for an approved charger, $500 for installation, plus an extra $100 if you enroll in their demand response program, which then pays out another $100 or $200/year if you don't opt out of too many demand events.

I ordered the SemaConnect home charger, in part because it looks like the garage vac we have, but mostly because the ChargePoint and Juicebox that qualify are out of stock.
