Getting a second fob programmed

Yes, you can do it with 2 fobs, which I have done as well as others. Funny hoe a Ford fanboy wouldn't even have anything ford in their profile picture... There's been way too many complaints about this. I don't understand why people just can't deal with it or pay a little extra for a second fob. Ford can add the fob and increase the MSRP $1000 but then people would company about rising prices. There's literally no winning with people these days...

I don't get all the angst about it either. The second fobs for every other vehicle I've owned have spent 99.9% of their lives sitting in a basket on my kitchen counter. For some though it's their hill to die on.

A 2nd fob would cost Ford well under $100.
PAAK is not ready for full key replacement.
This was a bean counter's bad decision.

My dealer immediately offered to give me a 2nd fob when my wife's phone was declared "incompatible".

Seems pretty pointless to carry a fob for a car you're not driving. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
The buttons on the door can also be tied to profiles.

From a dealer perspective programming MME fobs is the same as any other new Ford.

I drive my wife's Edge on occasion, she drives my F-150, on occasion.

When I go to drive hers I press the unlock button on her 2nd fob, and I expect her 5'3" seat setting to change to my 6'0" setting. And it does. Before I even open the door.

Same thing happens when she drives the F150.

When we go on vacation, in either vehicle, we each carry a fob for that vehicle. It is a common sense fail safe. We have been doing this since the standard became to provide 2 fobs per vehicle.

Providing only one fob is a regression, are Ford engineers not married? Crazy.

I called the dealer I bought from and they quoted me almost $400 for the fob, plus shop rate for programming. Is there something special about the Mach e fob?

They're definitely proud of them. My dealer said they're normally $450 but they would sell me one for $199 when I asked if Ford was including a second fob when I took delivery. I didn't ask if that included programming.

You have to have it with the fob. It inserts into it.

We each carry fobs on our own set of keys for each vehicle usually.

That is totally wrong, look up the part number and you will see that the fobs are nowhere near that price. There is nothing special about the fobs - my $30 fob still works fine and retains all my settings, shows the pony when I walk up, and my seat adjusts every time - so don't let the dealerships fool you. The one from carandtruckremotes is a good one to go with because it has the mustang logo but the trunk button will look slightly different.

It does have one, it is just blank.

Any Mustang fob from 2019 on will work, just get the one without the remote start button. Mine was $57 shipped from an eBay seller. Genuine Ford part, blank key insert included, Mustang badge.

Programming was a one hour min, $92 at my dealer, but it took them about 5 minutes to do it, and they did it while we were doing the financing paperwork so I was fine with it.

Any claims that the fob is special or expensive or hard to program are either a deliberate cheat, or just an inexperienced dealer covering for themselves.
