Glass recall (3 months and counting)

I have been trying since November last year when I got the notice and was told it would be January or February before parts would be available. Tried 2 dealers locally and no one has an idea what to do or has said waiting for clarification from Ford on how to proceed

They are lying. It's stated very clear in the documentation exactly what to order and what to do. They don't want to do the work.

Even if the dealers are new to Mach E - apparently this glass recall had to be done on F150 as well and would assume most dealers have dealt with the F150. Yes it can break (happened to me) but replacement was ordered and obtained in a few days. My dealer did sub contract it to a glass shop who apparently had experience with F 150 as well.

Yes, and no.

While replacing a windshield is nothing new, the F-150 didn't have the roof glass gasket and reseal issue, but it's not rocket science.

part of this recall requires them to remove the headliner to access the additional glue for the glass roof. I do think its a bigger job then most think. they did a really good job on mine but i saw some posts where they didnt do such a good job. Plus the smell of the new glue takes a few weeks to go away after you get the car back.

If done correctly, there is zero odor.

How would any of us know that?

The issue with the roof is that it could come off.

The issue with the windshield is that during a severe accident, such as a rollover, it could come off and therefore lose both the protection it provides from objects, as well as the protection it adds to the integrity of the structure to prevent the roof from collapsing, holding airbags, etc.

As time goes on, if there are incidents they should be tracked by both Ford and NHTSA, and will show up in the data.

IMO, anyone not getting these done is gambling on their safety and the safety of those in their vehicles.

As some others have said, call around. I wish I would have, when I booked my appointment, my dealer told me that the glass shop has broken every windshield so far and the repair was taking 2 to three weeks as they ordered the glass after it was broken. There are a few other dealers in the that are larger, they may have been better/ had more experience. Some people here have had great experiences, mine is one of the worst. So call around and find a good dealer, then take a bunch of pictures of you can - while its in the dealers lot - of the whole car inside and out. Then you should have a much better experience than some of us.

Mine has been at my dealer for almost two weeks since April 4th, and we made the appointment for it in early December.

They didn't even touch it for the first week and called me this past Monday to say as much. So, maybe they got to it this week, and maybe I'll get it back sometime next week, but they said they can't guarantee anything. (Part of me wonders if they broke the roof glass.)

I appreciate the free use of one of their rental Escapes, but it's certainly no Mach E.

Mine took 4 weeks primarily because the windshield broke.
I was one of the first to do it (I rushed in because I believed it would mitigate the loud wind noise I was experiencing).
I believe windshields are more readily available now.

I’m my in the denver area and have been trying to get my glass recall completed for over 3 months. I’m on my third dealership and was just told by Groove Ford that it could be up to a year for this recall to be completed. I was told there is no glass available because apparently the glass breaks frequently when removed to apply the adhesive.

Anyone else hearing things like this?

That’s what they told me, too. So far no luck with AutoNation, Groove or Phil Long, all saying they can’t even make an appointment. Anybody from Ford paying attention?
