Hi all,
I’ve been on this forum before looking at a Mach-e before we started our EV journey. In 2022 we bought a 2019 CPO Jaguar I-pace with 9k miles. We love the car, hate the dealer service. Unfortunately, we just found out that our car has a battery recall and Jaguar is going to buy back all the US 2019 models instead of replacing the battery.
Truthfully, we hate that decision. We finally got all the known problems fixed and we really like the car.
The one deciding factor for a Ipace over the Mach E was ventilated seats. Now I see the 2025 Mach-e will have them, we may be looking into one.
What is everyone’s opinion on the Mach E? Would you buy it again? Everyone manufacturer has horror stories. Has service gotten better?
thanks

I have had mine since June of 21 and now have 71k miles. Love the car and I have had zero problems. Did the windshield and pano recall which made the car extremely quiet. The new Michelin Pilot A/S are the best tires I have had and my range is still good. Quite honestly, living in GA and the heat we have from May-September, i have never missed ventilated seats. The windows and roof glass keep the car relatively cool

2022 MachE Premium and love it. Zero issues and 50,000 miles because it is driven for work.
My biggest problem with the MachE is the charge rate of 150KW. Honestly I almost never would use it because we charge at home, but the capability for a faster charge on a long trip would be nice.

Well for me, the Ipace tops out about 100kw fast charging and it’s only for a short time. So the 150kw will be an improvement. But I understand what you mean when you pull to a charger that says 350kw and mine is turtling along at 90kw.

101,500 miles and happy with mine.

See the stats for they turn of 100k:

Total miles 100030 for June 2021 RWD ER Premium

Business miles 74429 (74.4%)

Private miles 25601 (25.6%)

Total number of charges 812

Total home charges up to 11kW 533

Total DCFC charges 279

Total kWh 34758.72 costing £9431.18

Home charge 26630.56kWh (76.2% of total)

Home cost £4128.51 (43.78% of total)

DCFC charge 8128.16 (23.38% of total)

DVFC cost £5302.67 (75.56% of total)

av p/kWh 27p

Home p/kWh 16p

Av DCFC p/kWh 65p

av miles/kWh 2.88

HVB SoH 94%

For ICE car with 40mpg & Diesel @ £6.80/gallon total fuel cost would have been c£17005.10

Therefore, EV fuel saving £7573.92.

Car cost £53500

Current trade in offer £13000

Business fuel income £37214.50

Fuel saving £7573.92

Car theoretical paid for itself and am in perceived profit by £4288.42

Work done includes:

Rear wheel bearings changed under warranty

HVBJB changed under recall

A few sets of tyres

2 new windscreens

A few services and early transmission oil change

Right rear door catch changed partly under warranty

Never had a problem with 12v battery.

Apart from HV battery which is periodically monitored and performing well, only other thing really likely wear or fail is transmission.

Therefore, I had the transmission oil analysed (results attached with those for clean, virgin sample in left column for comparison) informing some iron & coper wear particulate matter present.

Not perceived as major risk or problem because replacement cost would be c£6,000 if it came to it which is unlikely so is less than the depreciation of a new car I considered.

DECISION: Regular transmission oil analyses and keep the car until either range drops making business use difficult or something catastrophic happens to it.

I've been pretty happy with both of mine. The '21 had an initial issue with the 12v battery not being maintained but that has long since been corrected. It had a couple of recalls (windshield and roof glass adhesive) and the high-voltage battery junction box (mine never failed or even complained but was replaced under recall anyway).

So it's been a pretty trouble-free experience. I later bought a '23 GT PE and it's been trouble-free as well.

The biggest problem (which is pretty minor) is that it's easy to chip the front-facing paint surfaces. I'd suggest adding a decent PPF coating.

Practically speaking, I don’t think you need ventilated seats if you have premium with perforated seats. I’m not in a warm climate, but we have days with 90+ deg weather. Never felt the need to have them.

I also have the tendency to complain about ford all the time, but if I were to buy a car today, nothing on the market comes close to a Mach-E as far as I’m concerned. I would get the GT with a performance upgrade, although I’ve gotten 4 speeding tickets so far with a premium while driving less than 8k miles over the past 2.5 years ?

You should test drive a variety of EV CUVs to determine what you like.
I think the Kia EV6 looks like an Ipace. But no much deals compared to Ford. The Hyundai/Kia twins are quite admirable on EV tech outside of Tesla and Chinese brands. The latter is moot at this time.

36K miles and I still love it. I’ve never had a car that “got better” over time!

Good timing anyway to exit the I-PACE, unknown path forward given the vast changes with brand image.

I have been very happy with my 2021 Mach-E and would absolutely buy it again.

This ventilated seat thing is overblown. As long as you get a Mach-E with perforated seats, it does not need ventilation. I have some familiarity with Jaguar, their HVAC system across their lineup is weak compared to American standards. I promise you ventilated seats or no, a Mach-E with perforated seats is going to be very noticeably more comfortable in hot weather compared to an I-Pace.

That being said, if you really liked the I-Pace and are OK buying preowned, why not consider a 2022+ I-Pace? If fast charging and range aren’t important for you, an I-Pace is going to be much more luxurious than a Mach-E. If you don’t care for that, you probably could save some money and get a new vehicle now if you shop existing 2024 Mach-Es on dealer lots that need to be sold ASAP instead of being first in line for a 2025.
