First the mustang, now the Capri, taking a beloved coupe and slapping the name on an electric crossover. I don't see this thing going over very well.

I only vaguely remember the capri, didn't recall it as being memorable. I know it was built in europe. But hell they took the maverick (I notice you have the truck which I really like) which was a not very memorable car from the seventies and made it into a pickup.

The original Capri was a Ford-Europe design to create a Mustang-like vehicle for their market. The next was a Lincoln-Mercury production of the Mustang II.

This is actually a very logical name use that follows a historical pattern.

The Capri (nicknamed crappy) was the EU version of the Mustang, apparently, the poor man’s version unless you opted for the sportier versions which went like shite of a red hot shiny shovel, bit if a cult following, they were a thing of beauty?

They will sell.

Been to find one, and an Explorer whilst booking ‘Stang in for its contactor recall and a 90,000 mile service, transmission oil change etc.

Explorer due in next month, Capri by end of year.

Apparently the Explorer is smallest, then Capri behind the Mach-e so will probably continue to with ‘Stang until it drops.

still going great ATM?

Does no one make different wheels anymore these days. Those are from something I've seen driving around a lot lately. Like the Premium MME wheels from Subaru, Volvo, Hundai etc. It's kinda annoying, oh wait those are really similar to my RX450H's damn it! (Truth told I'd buy the Capri for my wife, so long as they figured out the software and it wasn't MME Part Duex)

My very first brand-new car, was a 1976 Mercury Capri. That goes way back. Looked just like this one. This is just a Google search picture. I remember paying about $3600, out the door when I bought it new.

...
They sold in Canada as well when I was in grade school. I distinctly remember it because one warm day in June we re-arranged the letters on the hood of a teacher's car to spell... CRAPI. They were foam-backed, glued-on, and were easy to move.

Boy, did we get in trouble for that

I know there was a Capri-badged Fox body, but don’t recall a Mustang II version. Of course, my memory ain’t what it used to be.

Correct. No Mustang II version of the Capri. I had a white '76 Capri and silver '77 Capri (the last year they imported them) then a '79 Capri which was the first Fox body (same as the Mustang).
