Got the CP at Home Depot. Wired it for 40 AMP charging. Works great. I keep the portable charger that came with the car in the back. Have never used it. The Ford wall charger looks of questionable quality to me.
I was looking at the CP.

I should say I installed the NEMA 14-50 plug and added a 60A breaker on my breaker box - electrician did all that. I like having it plugged in instead of hardwired - that way I can remove to replace or fix it.

Your electrician wired a 14-50 on a circuit with a 60 amp breaker? Running heavier gauge wire is fine, but the 14-50 plug is only rated for 50A max so putting a larger breaker on it is against code. Did you have a permit and an electrical inspection?

Yes certified electrician. 6 gauge wire I think. Dedicated breaker for the CP set at 40A.

There are 60amp 14-50 plugs available. Let’s hope the electrician used one. Then the circuit should be fine with the 6/3 wire and breaker.
