the prize is you can tell @ARK he's not the worst anymore

ARK was pretty bummed to be at the bottom of the list originally
I just assumed that was a function of having one of the oldest cars. I feel for OP though, his is a 2023 while mine is a 2021 built in 2020.

Here's an update on my battery SoH. After charing to 100%, and driving all week without charging, I finally got back down below 10% displayed SOC after driving 281 miles. My GOM now says I have 38 miles and 8% battery left. Energy to Empty is 10.77 kWh. HVB SOC is 12.56%. HVB SOC Display is 8.5%.
Seems like a pretty healthy battery to me. The scanner isn't impressed. HvB SOH is now showing 78.5% ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ . Now I'm plugged in at home waiting for my scheduled charging time to start charging back up to 90%.

Check the SOH once you are at 30% battery remaining. The last calibration I performed did not result in an update to the SOH until my battery was around 30% remaining.

Here's an update on my reported SOH. It's trending down.

I just go back from a 600+ mile road trip after which I ran my battery down to 5%. Charged back to 100% overnight. After sitting at 100% for a couple of hours, I checked my SOC and it's reading 75%.

At this rate, I might be eligible for a new battery before the end of the year.

Have we ever heard what goes into the calculation for SoH? It's clearly not a direct calculation of how much energy is available compared to provisioned capacity.

Warranty, I would also assume, doesn't go off of SoH..they would want to warranty based on 70% energy capacity, correct?

The BECM measures how many amp hours go into the pack during a charging session, and uses that to calculate the battery capacity. Which is converted to a State of Certified Energy percentage. So it should be a direct measurement.

Warranty does go by the official certified SoH value (which is the same as what Car Scanner reports), so he will get a replacement if it hits 70% unless they can get it to recalibrate to a higher SoC value.

I'll add a couple more bits of info related to energy added. The displayed SoC before I started charging and the reported energy added for the charging session.

keep doing what you're doing, you may as well and get it below 70% haha

i think you might be the first/only battery warranty i've heard of based on SOH. i had once heard of someone with defective cells get one of the packs get replaced or something, i guess that technically might be SOH (or alternatively you may technically be the same issue)

Car is at the dealership today. I asked them to check the HVB. They said they don’t see any issues and I shouldn’t trust any third party scanner tool data.

There won’t be any issues, just low health. What do they say the battery state of health is?

Either way there are plenty of people who charge to 100% every night, while not the best for LONG term necessarily, shouldn’t have killed 20% of your battery in a couple months either.
Hello Voltologists
I stumbled onto this with great curiosity.
Based on the graphic above from the manual, it is better to schedule a charge hours after arriving home versus plugging in right away. Is that correct? Doing that will allow my battery to cool down before charging. I usually plug in to charge as soon as I get home to bring it up to 80% after my short commutes.
Thanks

In theory, yes, it’s better to let the battery cool before charging.

In reality, the AC charge rate of about 0.1C won’t make a meaningful difference either way.
