It was a good ride, but I always get the itch for a new car after a few years. I've been eyeing the Kia EV9 for a while, but was waiting for the price to come down. $15k off MSRP was enough for me to pull the trigger on a GT-Line.

I will say that this forum has been one of the positive aspects of owning a Mach-E. By comparison, the Kia EV forums are super lame. I'll continue to hang around here since I enjoy the company, and the MME will always have a place in my heart.

Enjoy the EV9. A person in the local Electric Vehicle Assoc. got one a few months ago and I was chatting with a family in one at a charger last weekend. Nice 3-row!

After owning 2 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIIIs and 1 Evo X I will never own another import. All imports are dead to me. They are all utter garbage. I think you made the wrong move.
You are welcome to avoid imports of course, but that's a weird sample to base the decision on.

Congrats on the new vehicle. I don’t change much, but the EV6 piqued my interest. I will look forward to a review of the EV9

Wow, congrats on the EV9. I must admit I never thought I would see this day this soon. I too look forward to hearing your thoughts after some miles. I assume it comes with 2 years of free EA charging?

To each their own. But you do know the Mach-E isn't built in the US, right? The EV9 actually is made in the US now (West Point, GA). Though, mine was built in Korea.
Enjoy the new car. Change is the only constant and it’s unrealistic to think everyone will stick with the mme forever. I hope the car is everything you’re hoping for. Thanks for your contributions to the Mach-e.

And yet you purchased the MME that is made in another Country. Not sure if you were/are being sarcastic or you just weren't aware of the car that you purchased?

It is too bad that the imports don't make cars like the Edsel, Vega, Pinto and the like. Gee, I wonder whatever happened to those?

I hope you touch in and follow up with how it is working for you.

I have been a Ford diehard my entire life, we have basically always owned Ford vehicles. For most of my life I would sooner roll my eyes at a KIA or Hyundai than consider even test driving one.

But man, their EVs have sure been on a roll, and hitting so many of the mass consumer boxes. The MME and F-150 are due to go back next year and I kind of want a Lightning, but it will be even harder to pull that trigger unless the prices are even better than they are today because to get a Lightning with what my Lariat PowerBoost has, like power running boards and B&O Unleashed and all that, I need to get a Platinum.

So we talked about maybe keeping the MME and getting an EV9. I would rather have an EV Explorer, but Ford has decided that 2025 for that vehicle isn't worth their time and are now looking to 2027, which won't work. The EV9 is the only three row EV that I even like, and I really want to get out and test one. Unthinkable.

I’m test driving one of these on Saturday! Absolutely love the blue on them, and would be a great family hauler for me. Excited to hear your thoughts!

Even a diehard can't live forever.

Love that matte blue. Like many others have said. I am curious to hear feedback in a few weeks\months. The PAAK equivalent sounds amazing on that.

Would be very interested in hearing about HDA 2
HDA2 works much better than BlueCruise 1.0. It's probably comparable to BC 1.2+, but I never got to try it, so I can't say for sure. HDA2 is not a hands-off system because it doesn't have an eye tracker in the US. But it goes minutes without warning you to touch the wheel, and the wheel is capacitive, so a light touch with one finger is all it takes. I'm glad it doesn't have an eye-tracker because reports from other countries say that it warns to keep your eyes on the road constantly.

Lane changes work great, but I assume that's also the case with BC 1.2+.

I also really like the options for Speed Sign Recognition. You can have it automatically adjust the cruise set speed when it sees a change in the speed limit just like the MME does, but I never liked that on the highway due to false readings. The other option is to have it beep and show an up or down arrow on the screen alerting you that the speed limit has changed. Then you can hit the up or down cruise button to accept the change before it adjusts your set speed. I like that much better.

It came with 1000 kWh of EA charging. I entered a redemption code in the EA app that applied the balance there rather than using a proprietary app like Ford does.

And so goes another soldier (well ok, officer), (well ok, Chinese chicken dish). We’re gonna miss your knowledge and your kinder/gentler RTFMs… Hope the EV9 GT is what you hope it to be. Safe travels and see you on the interwebs.
