My agent tells me my rates may double in a couple months when my 16 year old gets his license. So then I’ll be right there with you.
Depending on your company and if you have 3 or more cars you might be able to save some by having the cheap car for you kid and insurance based on primary drivers.

I know with state farm in Texas that is how my parents did it and even later on. My rates and my siblings rates where based on our car which we were primary driver of. We were allowed to use any of the cars but our main cars were what the rates where on. Btw if you have more drivers than cars then the most expensive drivers will be listed as primaries first. My parents also happen to have at the peak 6 cars to their names and 5 drivers. The 6th car was an old pickuptruck because well when you need a truck it is really nice to have one.

Thank You. Unfortunately I’m all out of cheap cars. And adding another car, just to have a cheap one to list as “his” is looking to cost more than just listing him on my 2018 F-150.

I pay about $100 per month in Oregon for pretty good coverage with Amica. It was significantly more expensive than my 2016 Subaru Outback and is $22 per month more than my 2020 Subaru Ascent. No negative history of any kind. Notably, credit score is usually the 2nd most important factor after driving history. If your credit score isn’t pristine, you’re gonna pay a lot more regardless of your vehicle.

Have any of you had problems with getting insurance quotes for your MME? I am considering two different EVs as my next car, and as part of my "pros and cons" list, I wanted to compare insurance rates. When calling Allstate, they had "Ford Mustang" with a bunch of different trims -- Fastback, Shelby, Mach-1, etc -- but couldn't find "Mach-e". Similarly when calling Farmers, they only found "Mustang", not "Mustang Mach-e". All of the online car sites that I've seen that have dropdown options, list the MME as "Ford" / "Mustang Mach-e", with "Ford" / "Mustang" as a separate model, therefore I presume that the agent is not entering the correct information, and I'm not getting an accurate quote. Farmers also had trouble finding Kia EV6, but after asking me several times if I was sure I had the right model name, eventually got it.

Has anyone here had similar problems? What insurance companies are EV friendly? Are MME insurance rates similar to ICE Mustang insurance rates? Are rates on MME, EV6, MY, ID4, XC40, and any/all similarly sized & priced EV crossovers comparable to each other?
I have Allstate Insurance on mine. They have it listed as 2021 Ford Truck Mustang Mach. Why I am not sure.

State Farm had no problem finding my MME with the VIN provided. It shows on my insurance card as Ford Mach-E

True does not save money over all as you have to own another car. I know for my parents we all ended up with a car at some point that was ours so it came into play. It is that just incase you ever need to or want to buy your kid a car at least it might make the insurance on the other cars a little cheaper so it makes the sting of buying your kid a car hurt less. I will say my dad did not like the fact that me my liability only coverage was more expensive than my mom's and his full coverage on their cars combined.

I switched from Progressive to Geico last month and had zero issues. My insurance actually went way down when I did. Whenever they have issues finding a vehicle, tell them you are looking at getting a quote and give them a vin of something in the same trim. Generally they can find it way easier than just a model look up.

As mentioned, allstate calls it the 'Mach E truck' for some reason. Rates were a little bit cheaper than my V8 GT, especially given that the msrp was doubled...

Was talking with USAA about another issue and asked if they could run a quote on my new MME. He said 'Do you know the VIN' ha gotcha, of course I know my VIN how else could I check all these systems hourly?? Well good news is that in Miami, FLORIDUH my rate would only go up 10$ per month. I was impressed. Turning in a 2014 Honda Hybrid Accord with 32K miles..

I have USAA and it is costing me $160 a month! It went up about $20 in December. They are claiming it is because I am in Georgia. This is about $15 month than my Mini Cooper Turbo I had. I have checked with State Farm and unless I want to go up to a $1000 deductible they are more.

With the 2 autos (2018 Honda CRV and the MME ) my 6 month premium went from 1029 to 1091. That sounded great to me. I was expecting alot more, just because it is a newer car. He save my quote when SALL-E comes in.

There are many, many factors impacting insurance rates, which is why comparing them is useless. Minimum coverages vary by state for example. Many take a lot more than the minimum. Some take higher coverages and add an umbrella liability policy.

Some states have much lower rates than others, one reason is the amount of uninsured drivers driving around in a particular state.

I'm paying around your number for the Mach-E, but I get a 20% dividend from AMICA at the end of the year.
