So disappointing to see a Kia EV6 charge it over three times the speed of my new Mach-E. I think Ford significantly reduced the DC fast charging rate in an effort to fix the frozen contactor recall problem.

To test your theory, you'd have needed to charger at the same stall as the Kia.

You won't see above 160 kW, but you should see more than 60 kW depending on your state of charge.
I haven't seen charging at over 110 KW in the roughly ten times I've used DC fast charging with my PE RWD Mach-E, regardless of SOC or ambient temperature.

I've seen 112 kW at an EA station on mine, and much slower speeds (45 or something?) at a different EA station. I didn't try all the stalls, though.

My car has the standard battery so in general, I should be seeing slightly lower speeds than your FE.

We haven't tried the same stations at the same time of course... With so many unknowns it's hard to know why we're seeing certain speeds.

PE RWD Mach-E? I didn't know there was such a thing.

You need the ER battery to see 160kw, but it is only for a short time.

But your photo shows the Kia at 8% and the MME at 74%, not really a valid comparison.
That's a 300kw charger the Korean EVs will do 230kw all the way to 80%

If it make you feel any better, the EV6 won't charge that fast the whole time. I usually use DCFC in the 30% to 80% range and average about 150 kWh over the session in good conditions. Still, it's pretty common to pull in the EV6 and compete my charge while the MMEs who were there before me are still sitting. Even if I'm on a 150 because MMEs are hogging the 350s.

I rarely road trip at a distance or route that requires DCFC. When I have, I've only needed to find DCFC around my destination (opposed to during the trip). So I can live with the MME's slower charging. With more and more faster charging BEVs on the horizon, it's easy for MME owners to have FOMO. But this is no different than the next smartphone or graphics card. If you are constantly waiting for the bigger and better deal, you miss out on the existing benefits of today's technology. With what it offers today, my MME is still a better automotive experience than my Acura ever was, slower charging and all.

Pretty sure he meant Premium
Ah, that makes more sense than PE (Performance Edition).

It was probably a typo, and was supposed to say FE like his bio. Hmm, except those were only AWD. Eh, it's a mess.

And we've grown to kinda like the longer charging breaks (25-30 minutes). Most of our miles are long road trips (100+ DCFCs to date). While it definitely adds time to the drive days, it's really not that bad. 500 miles is a typical full day for us (we're retired, and prefer driving while it's still light out, and don't mind an extra hotel night each way). ~500 miles is 3 charging stops. Roughly 2 hour legs with 1/2 hour stops. Works out well to get out and stretch and pee anyway.

Of course, having the option of shorter stops would be even better, if we were in a hurry. But we rarely are now, so this pace works well for us. Being "forced" to get out and walk/stretch for 20-30 minutes is good for us.

Yep and if he plugs in on a cold day at a similar state of charge, he might even get better charging speed than the EV6 - see the InsideEVS race to vegas video where the Ioniq5 cold-throttled hard.
