It would be really cool of all the charging networks could tie into a single clearing house for payments so you create a single payer account for all plug and charge sessions. Kind of like using a GasBuddy debit or credit card which is gas brand agnostic.

At one level, the existing payment networks (Visa, MC, etc) do pretty much what you describe. You still have the register that same card in each charging app, but it could be your single payer account.

The charging networks want to each build their own ecosystem of perks and incentives to draw you to their chargers instead of other ones.

i suppose we don’t even have to register on one of their apps. Just swipe Credit card , Apple I phone or I watch and your good to go.

I guess the only benefits of using their app is tracking purchases and if you are a member of a plan with cheaper rates Or some other benefit.

I must be missing something else .

I don't think you're missing anything. Besides the "rate plan" options, I don't see much difference between apps. Since I don't DCFC very often, I won't join any of the rate plans.

Well, looks like that's my problem too. I actually updated to 7.7.1 when I read the press release (checked and it was in my queue when I read the press release). I assumed that was the update to enable but apparently not.

True (I connect the same cc to all the charge services) and for the number of time a year I'll actually use public charging, even none plug and charge won't be much of an inconvenience. True single payment makes more sense with gasoline (like GasBuddy) because you have no other option except using various retail locations. Home is always plug n charge.

The providers want you sign up for better tracking usage, targeting promotions etc, also for lowering their credit card fees by charging in bulk - e.g., $10 refills rather than smaller amount multiple times. Especially for L2 charges could be less than $1 each charge.

Thanks @luckie for posting this. I easily activated Autocharge+ today [app v 7.13.0 (1707) on iOS 15.7]. Although I very rarely use EVgo, and their app has worked fine, figured might as well get "plug and charge" working before I need to use it on a trip.

I just checked and now the app update is available. If you still have the old version, check Google Play and it may be available for you as well.

I just enrolled in Autocharge and activated it at an EVgo station. Works just fine on iOS 15.6.1.

I am trying to add the Lightning for this but it will not add VIN. I have used an EVGo station in the past and it charged automatically using the free kWh that Ford has provided. Not sure what is the problem. The vehicle is added on app with model year and make.
