I didn’t see any threads or info in the manual. Can the Mach-E give a jump? My other car’s battery died from not being driven, ironically it is an ICE mustang. Ponies helping ponies?

It should work. You’ll have to take the panels off in the MME frunk to get access to the power points though.

I honestly wouldn’t unless you just uninstall your 12v battery.

It’s not like you can “rev your engine” to increase alternator output like you can in an ICE.

Our cars are already way sensitive to 12V battery failure. I just wouldn’t chance messing with it personally.

If your other battery died, you need to charge it anyways. A jump would only get you driving (but to where?) Buy a trickle charger.

Yeah, was afraid of that with all the 12v threads. Guess I’ll count myself lucky.

I’ve never needed a trickle charger before. Any recommendations, or whatever is rated well on Amazon will do?

You can use an ICE vehicle to jump start an EV, but it is seriously not recommended for an EV to jump and ICE.

Highly recommend Gooloo 1200A jump starter. Mine is a couple of years old and a 800A version, but it looks like they don't make the 800A version anymore and the 1200A version on Amazon looks just like mine.

I also have a Mustang, a 2006 GT to be exact. It used to have some fault where the battery would die after a 2-3 days of non-driving (finally mostly fixed it in 2020). After I got my Mach-E last year, my problem has been neglect, I won't drive my Mustang for a week (because the Mach-E is so great) and it will be dead.

The Gooloo is compact, and can jump the vehicle numerous times before it needs to be recharged. It also has a boost feature which is great because sometimes the battery is really truly dead, with absolutely nothing turning on in the car, not being able to unlock the doors (have to use the manual key), etc.

I just keep it in my Mustang. I have jumped my Mustang probably over a hundred times over the past 16 years, I have had the Gooloo over the past two years and it is easily the best jump starter I have ever had.

I don’t trust Amazon ratings on electronics especially.

Just go to a local auto parts store and buy one.

If you have a car with a battery that drains due to not sitting…… you definitely need to own a battery charger. If this will be a common occurrence (not driving it during winter), get a battery tender.

Even if you could jump the car and get it running, this won’t fix your problem (dead battery) unless you go drive the car for a couple hours. Better to just throw it on the charger.

There are lots of different brands of these battery powered jump starters. Amazing technology, actually. I got one (different brand than yours) a few years ago and it was able to jump start my Ford Expedition with its massive engine. I now take it with me on every trip and if I get the dreaded Stop Safely Now, I can use it to keep my LVB alive a little longer. Great devices.

I highly recommend the Battery Tender Plus. When my 2013 F-150 kept coming up with battery saving messages, I asked my former dealer's service manager for suggestions. He said "drive it more, or put it on a Battery Tender". I now have 3 - one for the F-150 (whose battery lasted 8 years), one for the boat, and a spare that was used for the F-150 at our former cottage.

I would NEVER jump anything with an EV, or a PHEV, due to the battery size and lack of an alternator, as stated. NEVER.

One more vote for getting one of the little lithium boost packs. Bought one a few years ago for my Leaf as I also didn’t want to try a jump from that little 12V battery. And I needed a solution in case we needed to get our ICE vehicle going one morning.

Here’s the thing with the boost packs vs a charger: You can immediately get an ICE car to start and it is small enough to carry every day for emergencies. You need to have a pretty sizable plug in charger for it to support a start function. Plus it doesn’t work at all when someone in a parking lot asks for help. Added bonus on many is a USB outlet to recharge a cell phone.

I think a car owner should also have a charger for maintenance and storage, but not for a quick emergency jump.

I got the same compact charger as Ark for my Clarity PHEV and it works great for ICE and EV. Ark’s advice is on the nose.

Just don’t do that please.
It’s a perfect way to join the voltage crowd with multiple threads pulling their hair out
Time to invest in a battery charger get one you can even fill your tires with
Jes Sayin. You don’t want to join the stop safely crowd

I like NOCO products too. Here's the challenge I have no quite figured out when traveling. If your Mach-E is dead and it needs a jump. How do you get to your NOCO if it's trapped inside the car?

Thanks all, I have a Gooloo on the way. Will be strange to be burning gas again. I've only gone through 1 tank of gas in my ICE mustang since the Mach-E arrived 1 year ago. Hope the gas in the tank is still good...
