MME vs Chevy Blazer EV

Is there a weird media blackout on reviews and tests like they did for the Mach E GT? I can’t find squat on test numbers for it.

Whenever someone does this, it seems like they’re hiding something. Like a movie that won’t let reviewers pre-screen it.

All I could find was this video. When he tests the acceleration he makes a “eh, ok” noise and face- (about 32 min in)

This guy likes the acceleration. Of course, it's an SUV/CUV, so don't expect sports car. Get the SS if rocket speed is your thing.

If you look at the Lyric or Hummer EV, GM was slow to give reviewers cars to review bc the production hadn't ramped. That seems to be the case with Blazer EV.

That seems to be an odd excuse. It’s super cheap publicity getting car reviews.

Hummer EV….. it’s been out a long time now and it’s STILL hard to get details on it. Like a simple question of “how fast is it in regular mode?” And the sales are already almost nonexistent.

Some of the non-sponsored reviews are starting to come out.

1. Looks like it's 3-400lbs heavier than the ER and that shows in the LT and RS performance #'s. SS looks impressive on paper but that's still vaporware.
2. Still like the interior.
3. The charge port door somehow looks even more chintzy than the Lyriq's.
4. $60k MSRP? Not sure how this is going to compete without some discounts.

It and the Honda rip-off are all built on essentially the same platform as the Lyriq. That model is in seriously short supply. So how is GM going to supply all three?

Pretty sure that award has never had much to do with being the “best.”

It’s about which NEW model is most impactful. MME wouldn’t qualify as it’s not new.

It’s kinda like the Time magazine person of the year. It’s never been the “best person.” They describe it as “featuring a person, a group, an idea, or an object that "for better or for worse... has done the most to influence the events of the year"

I prefer the Blazer's interior to the Mach E's, but that's about it. It seems underpowered too?

I agree. The point I was making about my MME is not that is should get SUV of the year, but that the Blazer isn't special when it is just barely competitive with my car that has been out for over two years. It seems like the Blazer should be better than my car in a significant way to win. But whatever. It's obviously not a serious award.

I didn’t look that close, but would be curious who the other competitors even are.

It may not be the best, but it’s pretty important for this car to be a success. If it’s not, there’s a 0.0% chance that “100% all electric by 2035” will be a reality for GM.** It’s a midsize crossover. They’re probably hoping it’ll be a best selling EV for them. Unfortunately I don’t know that it will.

I think the price is too high. If they can get it priced at MY levels, it might have a chance. But it isn't better looking than the MME, and I doubt it will sell better than the MME. But who knows. Maybe there are a ton of people out there willing to spend $60k on a average BEV.

Oh, wait! I just realized the big differentiater over other BEVs! It has door handles! ????
