Hi MachE owners, I am a bit confused, I have not seen any material to say what the most eco mode is on the MachE.
Whisper mode seems best for slippery conditions but on YouTube, they state that all modes will be eco. Go figure.
Any suggestions?

Uh...drive on unbridled and then on whisper...you'll use less energy on whisper. Maybe not much different on the highway but there is a significant difference in acceleration between the modes.

The pedal mapping is different but you can get just as much acceleration in Whisper. How you drive makes a lot more difference than the drive mode.

The most eco mode is slow mode. Slow down and you’ll get better range. The drive mode doesn’t make a noticeable difference vs. just slowing down.

I find 70 mph is a good compromise.
So you find it is more about your driving habits vs the actual mode?

It all depends on your right foot.
I did a multi-day experiment and the difference in all 6 modes were negligible. Each drive mode with/without one pedal.
One pedal inched out a bit.

Whisper = slower acceleration and less regen. Unbridled = faster acceleration and more regen.

Most Eco = Precondition battery, read the road, use acceleration wisely. Keep <=70mph

True but Unbridle (no longer ends with a “d”) encourages more supported driving. If you are disciplined, they are equally efficient. Harder acceleration for the same pedal movement in Unbridled means if you aren’t disciplined, Unbridle will be less efficient.

What about going downhill for a few miles, how do you capture the most regen/miles?

If you maintain the same speed across all drive modes, the efficiency should be the same. Yes, in some modes you may use the brake pedal more, but that doesn't mean you'll be using more of the brake pads. It just means you'll be telling the car to do additional regen via pressing the brake pedal rather than by lifting off the accelerator. (There are corner cases such as if your battery is at or very near 100% where there might be subtle differences, but not much.)

Whisper mode is the most eco mode.
What most people say is wrong. The energy consumed at the same speed is not necessarily the same.
For example, on a certain downhill slope, Engage and Unbridled must accelerate to reach 45MPH, while Whisper mode does not need to do anything and can accelerate by sliding, even reaching 45MPH in the case of Regenerative Braking.
I have tested Engage, Whisper, and Unbridled. Several modes, the most power-saving is Whisper.
I tested Engage with neutral.
Contrary to what everyone thinks, slowing down does not necessarily save power. Sometimes you have to speed up to save power.
I didn’t take any photos before during the test. This photo was taken a few days ago, during the test of 1,000 miles.
The first 200-300miles are 4.1mi/KWh, the middle miles 200-300miles are 4.4mi/KWh, and the rest are probably more than 5mi/KWh. The average 1000miles is 4.8mi/KWh.

That is a unique use-case scenario of driving downhill for extended periods. Allowing the car to coast above the set cruise speed can save a little energy, but with typical flat land driving the difference is minimal. 1PD Whisper cruise control only allows a couple MPH over anyway before regenerative braking starts.

If you stick to enforcing a set speed without going over, or are driving on flat land, then the modes are virtually equal efficiency.

You are trying to hypermile here, which is not how most people use their cars.

In summary, the differences are due to allowing coasting above set speed, or choosing not to use any throttle to accelerate. To make a fair comparison (eliminating driver factors) you should drive the same segment with cruise control engaged 100% of the time in all three modes. And have a similar starting/ending elevation.
