This is all a low-budget SciFi movie I'm watching Jim. No Superchargers on this island, none slated to be built, and the NEVI contracts were already signed. I doubt there'll be dual cord units under the NEVI contracts at this point.
Same here in Alaska but not really worried about it. The main highway corridor between Fairbanks and Anchorage did get several bids for NEVI sites so charging should be fine in a year or so. One DCFC was just retired as it was built in the DOT right of way and was asked to be moved. It is not being reopened. There is now one charger for the first 240+ miles from Fairbanks to Anchorage. Guess I will continue to drive my ICE to visit my son for another year.

I cannot believe that Tesla is stupid enough to think that allowing Ford and GM to use their chargers meets the deal they signed/agreed to with the Administration.

I know the Administration won't think that.

I do believe that Musk could decide to try and wriggle out of anything.
"The Administration". Arrrg.

While conceptually this sounds right, keep in mind that no one has made a statement that all V3 SuperChargers will be available. Telsa could decide to keep some locations, or some chargers, as Tesla only.
no. that's not what they said. they said v3 chargers would work. tesla could lock out cars in the future in theory, but I don't see how that would make any sense for them

IMO V4 is the "new" charger, not V3. Anyway, the article is not quoting Ford or Tesla. Do we really have confirmation that only V3 and newer chargers can be used?

This might be irrelevant anyway. For all we know, Tesla will have replaced all the V2 and older chargers by the time we can use them.
it's in the ford press release

A Tesla-developed adapter will provide Ford F-150 Lightning, Mustang Mach-E and E-Transit vehicles fitted with the Combined Charging System (CCS) port access to Tesla’s V3 Superchargers

I got my MME in October 22. The frunk button has always been in Ford Pass
Yes, but the Job1 2021 cars had no electronics frunk release. Even with the software to allow using the B-pillar keypad or in-car center screen active in the car Ford has not seen fit to place a frunk button in FordPass for any 2021 Job1 MME. The early adopters got the shaft on that and a few other things. ??

I think the V3 idea is an extrapolation from the numbers quoted in the Ford Press release and the total minus V2 Supercharger numbers gathered from selective filtering. An awful lot can happen between now and June 20, 2024 (the last moment of spring).

That is definitely more concrete.. Thanks.

However, does that mean we won't be able to use the V4 chargers? If we interpret it to mean we cannot use the V2 ones, we can also interpret it to mean we can't use the V4 ones.

suppositions galore: V2 superchargers may not be planned to be retrofitted with the capability and just upgraded. capability-wise they are <150kW chargers so, while ok for our needs, not the future. V4 is still being developed i believe. the one installation in netherlands is apparently just V4 dispensers attached to V3 charging cabinets so it doesn't appear to be quite ready for prime time.

i still wish we'd get a statement about extending the V3 supercharger cable length. that's going to be the short term issue for next spring.

Companies will take the path of least resistance (money). Right now Tesla is finishing the development of their V4 Supercharger that incorporate the longer cables. I think the adaptor will work with V3 and any subsequent versions. I also think that the Magic Dock will be used to garner/leverage NEVI funds for future Supercharges (unless the Fed loosens it restriction). It is assumed that Tesla will replace the V2 Supercharges with V4 as they fail and need replacement. I think they will continue on their existing expansion plans using their existing hardware (V3, eventually V4). I don't think V3 Supercharges will see any changes to a very costly longer cable. What I am most excited about is vastly superior reliability and the number dispensers at each location. The problem with CCS is that it hard to build a business case for a location in the back of a Walmart parking lot. EA was the result of punishment for diesel gate not to create a good let alone a profitable business.

I'd bet the adapter will be about 1.5ft total length. That should be enough to allow the cable to reach

I heard it will be 1.87 feet. Let's start another thread to debate it. ?

That's completely incorrect. It is definitely going to be 2.0 feet exactly. Anything shorter won't work. I heard it on CNN.
