Shame, it's probably the easiest 8 hours of paid labor from Ford they will ever get, just need a tech to click buttons every so often. For the IPMA update they can click start and go work on another car for several hours until it's done. Talk about easy money. This is awesome! My only worry is how complex this update is. When I brought my car in to have 21P22 done they did 5 of the 12 modules and then tried to get out of doing anything else. I don’t think they ever read the instructions. I could see them laughing me out of the service department with this list.
That's a dangerous game haha. Considering how easy the previous updates were, yet gave dealers so much trouble, it may not work out well for the owner of the car.Shame, it's probably the easiest 8 hours of paid labor from Ford they will ever get, just need a tech to click buttons every so often. Agree. Even driving my truck back and forth. 4 gallons of gas wasted. That's why I will give till mid April. That's a dangerous game haha. Considering how easy the previous updates were, yet gave dealers so much trouble, it may not work out well for the owner of the car.
Personally, I hate having to get a rental now when I leave my car in the shop. It costs me $20/day in gas vs the free charging I get at work, and I'm in a crappier vehicle while mine is in the shop.
The other worry is if they don’t connect the 12vb to an external power supply the long updates will fail. My dealer also seemed clueless about this requirement.Shame, it's probably the easiest 8 hours of paid labor from Ford they will ever get, just need a tech to click buttons every so often. They shouldn't be, this is standard procedure for ALL cars, not just the MME.The other worry is if they don’t connect the 12vb to an external power supply the long updates will fail. My dealer also seemed clueless about this requirement.
This. There is nothing magical about these updates or the process. Mach-E is FNV2, as are current Ford ICE vehicles, like F-Series. If a dealer can update an F-Series, they can update a Mach-E.They shouldn't be, this is standard procedure for ALL cars, not just the MME.
Well... it's definitely the recommended procedure. Things don't always (seldom) get done as written when you're working flat rate. They shouldn't be, this is standard procedure for ALL cars, not just the MME.
FDRS also prompts to verify the car is hooked up to a power supply before every module update procedure.Well... it's definitely the recommended procedure. Things don't always (seldom) get done as written when you're working flat rate.
not sure if you or @RonTCat knows, but are all 2021 GTs still on their original software? I’ve got a 1000mi road trip starting next weekend and could really use the revised charge cliff. They shouldn't be, this is standard procedure for ALL cars, not just the MME.
The only OTA's that have went to any Job 2 cars, which is all 2021 GT's, Was the BC Map update to keep it functional.not sure if you or @RonTCat knows, but are all 2021 GTs still on their original software? There’s the key word in your statement “Shouldn’t”, the problem is some of these tech either don’t care or just don’t read the instructions or prompts. I brought my car in twice to have 21P22 done and neither time did they connect the battery. I know that because I put a piece of tape across the paneling in the frunk to see if they broke or removed it, they didn’t.They shouldn't be, this is standard procedure for ALL cars, not just the MME.
thanks, Ford’s BC map update was nice to get. I’m surprised at how much I use BlueCruise and how annoyed I become when it reverts to co-pilot 360 so that I have to use torque-steer like some sort of Tesla Autopilot peasant. The only OTA's that have went to any Job 2 cars, which is all 2021 GT's, Was the BC Map update to keep it functional.
