Alright, so I got the BC update and the car seems to be driving fine. Except no BC. Do I need to do something to activate it?

Ive got adaptive cruise control toggled on plus lane centering with hands free. I was on a divided highway and I got a little message about BC on the instrument panel, but then it just stayed in the CP360 mode.

I went to my ford.com vehicle dashboard connected services and it looks like my trial has already been activated. Says it expires a year from now and there’s no button to tap to activate. Thoughts?
Make sure you turn on lane centering (button on left side of wheel) besides turning it on in the settings.

This is awesome! My only worry is how complex this update is. When I brought my car in to have 21P22 done they did 5 of the 12 modules and then tried to get out of doing anything else. I don’t think they ever read the instructions. I could see them laughing me out of the service department with this list.
same Iliterally took my car in this morning and told them to load everything and no BC but I didn’t have this list. Heck they didn’t even know what service it required

This is a good move from Ford to get more cars done while they sort out OTA. Until yesterday the other threads were just asking for such an option.

Thats what it looks like to me, its actually open to all job 1 cars starting today. Just the EA folks are getting an email letting them know now.

Owner letters are expected to be mailed the week of April 11, 2022.
I’m in EA and BlueCruise EA and did not get a letter. Had I not been reading this forum, I wouldn’t know to call my dealer tomorrow.

Same. Communication has been hit or miss. I guess if they can't get communication right I shouldn't expect then to get OTAs right.

I was actually having my 10k service done today and the BC updates were available and they agreed to do them on my FE. Alas they hit problems applying 21B36 (PaaK) and couldn’t do the BC today. So close…

Selects need the tech package to get BC. So I assume it wouldn’t apply
Well, funny part about that, this program updates all of the modules that need updates on my car. I'm going to still try to arrange for it to be done at a dealership.

Talked to my technophobic wife yesterday. She said not to bother trying to get the dealer to install. She won’t even use lane centering BECM cause she disagrees with Ford on the definition of the word “center.” So she will also refuse to use BlueCruise. At least my car came with it for those few times I’m in a blue zone.

I just got off the phone with my dealer’s service department ?
First, they tried to claim they’ve never heard of the program. I had the dealer letter in front od me (thank you MachEForum ?), so I began reading it verbatim to the guy and said specifically that I wanted to schedule TSBs: 22-2117 and 22-2109. Then, the “party line” changed to “we are still looking into it and determining what’s required. We will get back to you early next week.”
They would not bulge. I’ll be harassing them next week. I have to stop by the dealer this weekend with a friend so I may mention my “issue” to my sales guy.

I'm going to assume that you/her already know this and have tried, but just in case ... I was also a bit unenthusiastic the first few times I tried lane centering and the Mach E decided it REALLY wanted to hug the line ...

When lane centering is active, take control of the steering wheel and force the Mach E to your preferred portion of the lane, and hold it there for a couple / few seconds. The Mach E will "learn" that position and stick to it. I frequently do this and it has thus far worked flawlessly.

This hint was posted in this forum a long time ago, but I'm a tad to lazy to find it and credit the original author. Apologies if you already knew this, but nonetheless bares repeating for the newbies.

You obviously don't know his wife... or mine.

My wife has zero interest in any bells, whistles, or technology. She has no interest in maximizing range, parking aids, or anything else. Get in car, drive. Park car, get out. Get back in, drive.

When we had our PHEV, I explained how she could use electric-only mode to the highway, then switch to gas-only, saving electric for when she got off the highway near work, then repeat on the way home. She did this 2 days and said "nope". I tried to setup geo software to remind her to switch, but that failed.

She's happy I like the Mach-E, but says when I drive "it's like a rollercoaster ride".

At some point dealers will need to accept that software updates are the new oil change, and just as important.

I mean if it wasn’t for the incredibly slow OBD2 port that would be a great service. Roll it in to Ford’s fast lane services.
