I watch Kyle's reviews pretty religiously and love his tempered, good natured, but still balanced approach to reviews- especially this one. He puts a lot of good perspective on the improvements and misses, but doesn't dwell on them and allows for the car in its present state to speak for itself.

I ended up with a 23.5 (bought literally a week before the 24's hit), but I'm still happy with the deal I negotiated and the overall performance of the car. We traded in a '19 Jaguar I-Pace for the MME, making this the third time we rejected a Model Y (we also have a 23 Bolt that we love). I feel like this review echoes many of the things we kept in mind as we were shopping for our third EV.

Yeah, Kyle gets it pretty accurately, several improvements that are great to see for the platform (even if the charging is still slow in today's market), but several things still missing that should be in this update, most of which are easy software additions.

I'm hoping Ford really brings it together for their gen 2 products.

I really love @OutofSpecKyle's reviews and his content style. I get that people complain about the length of his videos but honestly, 10-mins vids are a dime a dozen. That's not what he excels at and he's got more to say than the superficially similar things that everybody else talks about.

Comparing the MME vs Model Y is perfectly appropriate since the MME has always been the direct competitor. I think Kyle sells the MME short on why people would opt for it over the Tesla but we all have our reasons.

Ford really emphasized the performance improvements for the 2024 MME and put the software stuff on the backburner. It would have been great if the bucket list of software things that Kyle had requested had been included on this refresh (and definitely for us 2021-23.5 owners!) but here we are.

Kyle intends to do a big head-to-head comparison of all the compact SUV EVs in this segment and I'm hoping it's soon before the MYP refresh hits the market.

Kyle deserves props for getting deep into the technical details and bringing those criticisms to the Ford engineers. How many other auto journalists would care enough to address things like the undersized 5kw heater and the issues it brings?

A lot the issues he mentions are things we have been discussing on here and asking Ford for since the car launched. They seem pretty deaf to our feedback, so its good to see someone in the automotive media informed about these issues and willing to call them out to the engineering team.

I don't think Ford seems deaf. As Kyle noted, they acknowledge the deficiencies he brings up- he points out that other automakers are the ones who are deaf. I would like to think there's a capacity/prioritization issue at play.

What I liked about what he was saying at the end if you’ve already got one, unless you really want to get that new model it’s really worth keeping your 23 or older. I’m not sure if he was referring to something below 2023 as well.
I have a question while he was driving in the very beginning of the video or it could’ve been towards the middle that area on the dash in the lower left-hand corner with the lightning bolt where it shows regeneration does that blue area he was talking about?

Ok’ish video to me. Cold be summed up in a paragraph or so though. Pretty much nothing we haven't read about.

So what's up with the start button? I guess we could go back to using a screwdriver to jump the starter solenoid contacts like we use to to do back in the day lol. I'm guessing no start button deal must be when you sit in the car it automatically turns everything on, including the chimes? That would be annoying for me. As it is, the walkup/walkaway entry deal activates too much for me since I don't have a large house. I'm always doing something in or around the car.

I do wish the bronze package was available on other colors.

What is that menu he’s playing with at 31:05? It’s like a sound menu for the B&O system with a big circle on it.

It must be a pretty major issue consider we’ve been asking for things like charging speed on the drivers display since the first driving impressions videos went up 4 years ago.

I think Kyle is too easy on the weirdness of a Tesla and its interfaces. Having been introduced to brake blending with my 2005 Prius and a lengthy relationship with dash and steering wheel buttons and driving on roads often de-iced with pebble gravel, I just don’t think his team gets the appeal of a Mach-E to some of us and I’ve read EVs remain largely a hobby second vehicle for better off households. Tesla breaking out of the natural geek buyer segment may be starting but Ford does have an opportunity to be ‘the Norman Normal’ of North American EV’s.
