Profile keeps defaulting to Guest

Update-

Not sure why I didn’t think of this temporary workaround before-

I set all guest settings the same as my profile setttings.

That way if it’s guest or me…… doesn’t matter.

Doesn’t help my wife if she drives, but at least it will work most of the time.

If the profiles are all the same, there is no value in the profiles.

Not all profile, just Main driver and Guest. Since I drive it 99% of the time, it works.

Around half the time I get in my car it keeps defaulting to the Guest profile.

This means I have to hit the memory seat button, wait for the computer to load, go to profiles then click on my profile half the time.

Details:
I only have 1 profile and guest
I have BOTH my phone on me and key fob all the time.
I don’t leave the FordPass app running or open. (It’s closed unless I want to use it for some reason)
I deleted my wife’s phone from the car
I deleted then added the only key fob I use
I have “easy exit” activated


Anyone else with the same issue or found a solution?

Today for example I took the car to the gym, no problem it loaded my profile after sitting all night. Leaving the gym an hour later? Guest profile……

Welcome to the bug club. Someday it will get better. “You mean it will be fixed!” ……. No “you’ll get used to it!”

I learned about the remote-start resulting in a Guest Profile bug yesterday when I was leaving the store. Went to reverse, and the car starting moving on its own into parking lot traffic before I slammed on the brake. I have gotten so used to 1PD that I was surprised when it started backing out as I took my foot off the brake. Now I know to check the profile whenever I enter.

This morning my wife had a departure time setup. When she got in her profile showed up, but her CarPlay was all messed up, and Sync was trying to connect to messaging on her phone.

The software bugs on this thing are just SO random!

It wouldn't have mattered if they could. It's a known bug, so there's nothing the dealer would have been able to do. Sorry you wasted your time there.

Not only does it set the profile to guest, it won't let you change it back even when in park. Also it changed all the radio presets to 87.9 except for satellite radio, those it gave me random stations I've never set. One was comedy for everyone. Maybe it is implying the software is a joke.

Not unusual , unfortunately, but I must say that after being away for two weeks, car started right up and everything worked.

my wife just used the car and I will see tomorrow if the profile problem returns. Normally problems occur when she drives and I drive afterwards.


edit: took the car out this morning and no issues, a strange but true moment and I am happy about it.

Always a risk with sporadic car issues.

I learned years go to always take a picture and/or video when things like this go wrong.

If not, when dealer can’t verify the issue, they can’t “fix” the problems.

For this kinda stuff, just ask them to update all available modules as that’s all they can do anyways.

Got the new User Interface update 4.1.2 today!

And the 2nd time I started the car? Guest profile, couldn’t change back to mine without a sync reset.

Seriously Ford, it’s been over a year now……

Mine's at the dealer with the dreaded HVBJB. Luckily it went belly-up while in my garage. I also need to let the dealership know I have been having this "guest profile" issue as well. Love the car but it is one "bug" after another.

This happened to me as well. I didn't realize it was on guest until I turned the volume up and it sounded weak. Sure nuff everything was set to guest. My 1p stayed though. So that's a good thing. But I think I'm going to have to figure out a strategy for her because twice now I've rolled through a stop just before realizing 1p was gone. (Somehow it was with a seat position button recall. I might have hit #2 which has no saved profile. I think that toggled to whisper which doesn't have 1p enabled. I jumped through the screens and fixed what happened. But dang. If that happened while pulling up to the garage door, it could have been bad.)

Recently my car started to have this issue. Nearly a week I drove my car with Guest profile and didn’t allowed me to switch back to my profile. Each time I opened the car and saw this made me crazy. Few days ago I decided enough is enough and was ready to reset the settings and profiles. But before doing this I investigated the settings and found how to easily fix this issue. So far so good, now it’s 3 days as my profiles work as should.
Here’s the steps:
Select top menu -> Press the arrow near Guest -> Edit -> Arrow near your profile name -> Make Active Profile

I need to try this next time. I usually just click on my icon. Sometimes it goes back to my profile, sometimes it doesn't. I didn't realize there was an alternative method described here. Thanks @MK_E_4X !
