Rear Hatch not closing

Thanks. The problem seems to have gone away, at least for the moment. Not sure if this was the fix but here's what I did:

1. Removed my car from the Ford phone App
2. Deleted the App from my phone
3. Used my key fob from that point forward (no more phone as key)
4. The key fob by itself worked for the rear hatch, and the rear hatch buttons started working again

I currently only use the key fob, I gave up on the phone as key (never reinstalled it). The phone as key never really worked from the start, I would get locked out, car wouldn't start, etc.

My PAAK has been really reliable since last CSP. I tried what you tried and it worked for a while but the problem kept returning randomly. Eventually, everything I used to do to get it to work stopped. When the dealer tried to reflash the module, they said it was corrupted and bricked. Maybe those things we all try work for a while until the corruption it too much

My rear hatch close button hasn't worked since the day I got my MME (October 2022). Everything else seems to work for closing (the button below the license plate, key fob, touch screen) but the dedicate button seems completely dead. Any suggestions?

I just picked my car up from an auto body shop where I had a garage door scratch repainted (grrr!!!). Now, the hatch won't close via any electronic means (I get the 3 sets of 2 beeps, for a total of 6).

I guess there's no easy fix other than taking it in to the dealer? I imagine the warranty won't cover this since the body shop caused it (double grrrr!)

I mean, are you really going to tell the dealer that is started after you got it back...? I would just take it in as normal and say it isn't opening via any electronic means and leave it at that.

I wonder if there would be codes in the computer that would tell them things were disassembled?

Did you confirm that the body shop didn't disable it in settings?

Or the system may have turned it off due to components being unplugged.

I sometimes have to press the button a 2nd time to get it to close. That started after one of the updates (1.7.something) if I remember correctly.

But only that button on the far left is affected. If I press the center button then it works every time still.

The center button? The one on the tailgate that you press to get in? Never thought of trying that one to close it.

Mine has worked well sync, phone and buttons since I received it. I am trying to master kick open kick closed and getting pretty good at it. Has never been a problem and have been through the 1.7's.? I think you may not be in the norm.

None of the physical buttons, Sync buttons, fob, etc. will close it - only by manually pulling it down.

The power liftgate is activated in Settings (that's why it will open via the buttons).

Odd that it will open but not close...maybe a sensor is goofed up and that's why it refuses to come down??

So, I checked the diagnostic codes using my copy of FORSCAN and this guy came up:

Code: B1454 - Tailgate/Liftgate/Boot/Trunk Left Pinch Strip

I took it back to the body shop, showed them the code, and asked them to check all the electrical connections in the hatch. They found one that wasn't clicked all the way together, and ta-da, the hatch now works!

I have the First Edition so it has the foot activated close feature - or should I say it did, as it no longer works. Did they deactivate that feature in a software update?

My job 1 still has kick to open. I have (I think) the latest update. 4.2.something.
