Check on that rental reimbursement. When I had my car in for the windshield/sunroof recalls, Ford corporate said they would provide a rental. When I went in, service manager said Ford only pays $35/day for rental and the cheapest rental from the local Hertz (apparently Ford is only contracted with Hertz) is $85+tx a day, and that I would have to pay the difference of roughly $65-$70/day for an unknown # of days (they weren't sure how many days it would take to do the recall).
So make sure you get something in writing that the rental is completely covered.
The dealer in Fl uses vouchers for an enterprise right down the street. They have a contract with them. Has to be a Ford rental and probably a POS but what are u going to do.

Found this on the NHTSA site. Wonder what the EV only households will do with the $50 gas credit?

Ford Mustang Mach-E Recall 23S56 - HVBJB Replacement / Powertrain Software Update 1703107726436

I love my dealer and have had nothing but great experience in the last few months of issues I've had with my Mach E but I would be floored if I got my car back cleaned and charged up. ?

If I get a gas card and a wireless charger with a thank you note you can slap my ass and call me Charlie.

your dealer’s service department is staffed by a bunch of bozos. I scheduled my replacement for just after the New Year and the service advisor was game for it. We’ll see how it all goes.

There can’t be many of us 2021 MME GTs with the original HVBJB left! Last tracker I saw for 2021 GTs was like a horror movie as the SVS Monster picked us off one-by-one.
I have a 2021 GT and I have an appointment for Jan 9. Does anyone know if any Rev C HVBJB have failed? Thanks.

Not just GT’s, premiums are getting appts also. I dont think dealerships really care about priority.

if your on the recall list ”most” will get you in as soon as possible. I texted my service rep at a dealership 1200 miles from home, as my car is now in Fl, and car is scheduled for Jan 4 replacement and 2 days reimbursement for rental if no loaner available.
Are you in St. Petersburg? sounds like my dealership with the enterprise rentals

We do not know that any of the C part have specifically failed. There have been a few reports of a SVS with this part. The SVS doesn’t indicate a failure, just that the car thinks something is going wrong (it could be a failed part but it’s more likely that the part is in process of borking). An SSN would indicate a failure since the won’t run. ??

I'm an EV only household. I have a standard range Mustang so I'm not dealing with this recall. But if I were, I'd be very appreciative of the gas card for the gas rental I'd probably be given from the dealer.

If I were fortunate enough to receive an EV loaner, I'd give the gas card to my parents or a friend. I think this is a great move on @Ford Motor Company's part.

I think if you got the "C" part, you are good to go. I don't remember seeing when the "C" part was introduced to production. If someone posted that, I missed it.
My Job 1 2021 AWD ER (FE) HVBJB was replaced in Nov 2022 (28k miles) with the C part under TSB 22-2178 (according to the paperwork). It's not showing a recall for my VIN (yet, anyway). Put another 21k miles on since.

Well, according to @markboris, these are newer parts.

He had the "B" version installed, and this recall lists a "C" version for the GT models. So I would say we have a "V3" part.
Yup, this is the best news of the whole thing! It may also explain the time gap between when the recall was announced and the start of the replacement campaign as the second revision (overall third versions) had to finish their development/testing phases before being brought to production.

It’s got me wondering if these new HVBJB versions are the magic link to the 2024 ER pack enabling faster charging times and an improvement to the GT’s 5 Second Rule.

It’s important to note that there are different part numbers for the various trims. The GT is going from revision GT HVBJB-B to new revision GT HVBJB-C. Since no GTs have gotten the latest GT HVBJB-C, none have failed.

Confusingly, I believe there’s a “C” version of the 4X HVBJB. Afaik, @heisnuts has killed the 4X HVBJB-C plenty of times. tbh, I wish Ford would put him on the payroll to see what he can do to these latest revisions.

You are exactly right on the GT part numbers. The old GT full part number was LK9Z-10C666-B, and the new part number just changes to -C. As you say, no one has this yet. For the 4X Premium, the old part number was NK4Z-10C666-C, and the new part number changes to -E.

I would also feel better if Ford told us these new parts had been fully tested by @heisnuts and they passed with flying colors!

Years into the recall, 2020 and up had the recall changed to a software only update.

I can see the same being a possibility for RWD only MME. The recall becoming software only.
The difference between the Bolt battery and the MME HVBJB is that the Bolt battery was not a defective part (only a very small number of batteries, misassembled by supplier in a small run, were involved). It makes perfect sense not to replace the good batteries. We were just fortunate to get a new larger capacity battery at no cost. So, a 2020 model year would be far removed from the recall group and consequently not require replacement. I agree, the recall/replacement was unnecessary overkill. Therefore, odd but explained.
The HVBJB is a defective part which should be replaced, years past. Torturing customers for nearly three years is not acceptable nor should any regulatory agency permit it to occur.

My HVBJB died this October and was replaced. Was the new part available at that time? The Recall is still active on my car when I checked.

It was not. Mine was replaced in October and the recall remained active. Million dollar question for me is what part will I get since mine failed again on Sunday. Parts are expected to be in next week so I am cautiously optimistic.
