Have same issue on my First Edition. I am beyond 3/36 warranty and dealer said not covered under extended warranty. Cost quote $823 to replace bottom seat cover on driver's seat. I politely declined but will be letting Ford know of the poor quality. This is really the only thing I have been upset about this vehicle.

I'm in your shoes with 41,000 miles and extended warranty. At three years old, this is the worst interior I have ever experienced with a new car. My wife's 2017 GMC Acadia interior (131,000 miles) still looks new with zero cracks. Terrible quality on the light-colored upholstery.

You all might consider getting sheepskin seat covers. I got a set from RockMountain Sheepskin company for our MY a couple years ago and they're great (the skins, not the MY). They really are cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

Unfortunately set I have doesn't fit the MME.

Add me to the list. I've had it for 18 months and 44K miles, and the driver's seat is cracking on the bolster closest to the driver's door. My prior Hondas didn't have this after 8 years and 175K miles. It's sad for sure, but it's not worth paying to get it fixed.

I’m in the same boat. Noticed the cracking on the driver’s side at 39k miles and 27 months in August 2023.

Dealer said it would cost $800 to replace/install new cushion for FE (blue trim).

I messaged @Ford Motor Company about the defective seat, hoping to at least bring attention to the poor material quality. They opened a ticket.

The Customer Experience Specialist said she would call the dealer and ask these 2 questions:
  1. Would the repair have been covered if the vehicle was still under bumper-to-bumper warranty?
  2. Was damaged caused by customer negligence?
If they answered yes to Q1 and no to Q2, then I’d be eligible for a goodwill discount on the repair where I’d pay ~40% of the repair. My dealer service contact confirmed he would answer yes/no when contacted.

I followed up with the specialist every month via email and phone. No response. After 4 months, I learned that the ticket was closed.

I tried one last ditch effort in January 2024 by asking @Ford Motor Company to help connect me with a supervisor. They said they’d have someone contact me - it never happened.

I’ve given up at this point, though it’s a shame since the rest of the car still looks new. Hopefully, others will have better luck in getting this addressed.

Can we go back to putting real leather in car seats?

Just because we drive electric cars doesn’t mean we are all vegan hippies.

My seat is cracking at 35 months and 33k miles. Dealer sent pics to Ford and said Ford refused to pay to repair it. Guess this will be my last Ford if they won’t honor their warranty.

Adding my Mach-E to the list of cars with cracked seats. This is clearly a major problem, and we should collectively complain to Ford. This is the kind of thing that we can get them to take action on if enough of us complain. I see this complaint in the FB groups as well.

I've messaged Ford to open a ticket with their EV concierge people, and we'll see if that gets anywhere, but I'm not hopeful.

For those saying "let's go back to real leather," I respond with this: I've had other cars with vegan leather where this hasn't been an issue. This isn't because it's not "real" leather, it's because there's clearly a defect in the design and/or manufacture (since it's cracking in the same place for everyone I've seen).

If it makes anyone feel any better, my replacement seat for this original issue is now cracking too. Of course I'm out of warranty now though.

Just reinforces my idea that we should coordinate out complaints a bit. @Ford Motor Company needs to address this.

It’s “not only” because it’s not real leather.

Sure some plastic seat materials don’t crack…… yet. But leather is just plain better.

It’s softer, more durable and breathable. Plus it doesn’t crack.

Pleather, vinyl, vegan or whatever you want to call the same crappy material is just plain inferior.

Has anyone had their seat material start to break up? Just noticed yesterday that mine is starting to crack around the ventilations. Hopefully it won't be an issue under warranty.

I’d be curious to know how many have had the replacement crack as well. Can’t help but wonder if the the cushion beneath doesn’t play a bigger role than ActiveX. Kind of like carpet pad beneath the carpet. Pretty discouraging my 11 year old Altima interior has aged better.
