I received my car back on Tuesday, and all is fixed. I had to redo some of my previous set preferences, but I expected that. Car has been running flawless since. I only wish the dealer would have at least washed it in the 28 days it was in their shop, they left it out on a back lot and it was given to me, replete with a months worth of dust and bird droppings.

Since the parts are in the pipeline, I would think you will have yours very quickly, It is a quick replacement scope for the technician. Let us know how it turns out, I'm sure you will be very happy with the car once resolved.

I got the same Shift error and a Hill assist fault and power train fault. I dropped it off at the dealer this afternoon. We’ll see what they say but it sounds like it’s all related to the shift module.

Dealer called last week saying that the shift module was in stock. Thursday they had it for the day and replaced it. The advisor said that the original module's pins, though fine in appearance, were causing some kind of intermittent fault that caused it to throw a code, but didnt have any issues when they plugged it back in (and the month since the first visit was uneventful). But obviously it's got a high potential to do that again, so replacement was desired.

My Ford contact checked in periodically during the wait on the part, and would call with updates. Thanks, forum peeps, for your experience, and thanks Ford for having people paying attention to the forums. Have a safe 'oliday!

A software update from the dealer fixed the "Shift System Fault" error message for me.

Yesterday I was driving, heard a loud clunk, and then I got this message. The car made it as far as a parking area alongside the road but I could not get it to move after that. Would not shift (shifter was flashing), couldn't get it into Neutral, couldn't release the parking brake and therefore could not roll it out of the way. Initiated Ford Roadside Assistance via the FordPass app and an hour and a half later the tow truck operator called and said he did not have the right equipment (wheel lift and dolly), he called his dispatcher and no luck. Several phone calls to Ford and got hung up on at various stages in the process. Another 20 minutes and connected to someone, she made it through the whole process, scheduled another tow company. They cancelled. I was close to home, my wife walked backed and got her car and it was starting to get dark so we both went home.

Rinse and repeat 3 more times with Ford. She called to tell me she was still working on it, then nothing. My wife has AAA so I initiated that. Another hour, Ford calls back and a different person says they found a tow truck but I would have to pay them upfront! Sorry, no, AAA only wanted an additional $3 and change for an extra 3/4 mile.

AAA says up to 3 hours. After an hour and a half, I went back to check on my car with a trouble light and some wrenches. Tried to start the car, started right up, no problem indicated. I made it back home to my driveway, got my wife and we were going back to get her car. Dead again, same fault, can't shift or release the brake. At least in my driveway for now. Cancelled AAA and will try again today in daylight but will get it towed to the dealer in any case, I don't need to be stranded.

(Side note: the first time using the automatic parking was on Friday. I wonder if it's related?)

Is this the same error as the original thread? Any hope my car will ever work again?

I don't think I received any updates like this, how would I know? FRDS? I seem to still be on 1.4.0 as the major OTA.
Well to be clear, I have no idea what the issue was with your car, nor do I know if this update would resolve it. We just saw this update pop up on FDRS yesterday so we have 0 data on it. I'm just pointing out that they have released an update for the GSM. We also have conflicting information on if the GSM can be updated via OTA. So there's a lot we just don't know.

Turned on Mach this morning and have the same issue. I drove the car for 10 miles and had no issues. When I called the local dealer, (I am 600 miles from home), he seemed to have no idea and suggested I have it towed in. Flatbed just picked it up, I will update this thread on my experience.

That sucks! Sorry you had to experience that. Would you update us here when they find out what it was please?

Not to downplay or make light of your terrible event, but does anyone else find it hilarious that the screenshot says "What is Happening?". I'm really curious to see what it says!

That's what happened to me. I was unable to drive - might be because I have one-pedal drive enabled? Make sure the dealer installs TSB 21-2244 which includes a bunch of module updates. Also seems to fix PaaK issues.

After 6000 miles, mine had this problem this morning as well. First issue so far. Taking it into the shop this afternoon after work. I wonder if an updated failed somewhere along the way.

Hi Patrick. Can you send us a private message with your VIN? I'll look into this further for you.
