Cool, TY.
I am on the fence on this ability. Too easy to get a VIN, but as long as the data is limited and you can't make changes, I suppose it is helpful.
I definitely do NOT want anyone to be able to get the logs off my 911... LOL
You can opt out of it too, but then you can't see any of it in your FordPass app either. No changes that can be made, just data you can view. Nothing personally identifiable UNLESS you have an extended warranty then it lists your name. However it does that for any Ford vehicle with or without a modem.

Well, the dealer called twice today, the 1st call was that the tech said all updates sent were not copied to my vehicle, but he was on the "hotline" to see if they had any additional information based on my comments. So, I asked if it was definitely a SW issue, not any firmware or hardware on the vehicle, and the Service Writer said it looks to be SW related. 2nd call, he states that the shift button is defective, and will need to be replaced before driving again. 10-14 business days, with a RTS date between Aug 2-4th. I have not even made my 1st payment yet. So ,I asked if Ford would grant a rental car, he said he would put in a request and that "Ford was really taking care of Mach E customers". I'll call him back tomorrow to see if they approve the request, if not , I'll have to elevate to Ford I guess. This is not the experience that you want with less than 500 miles on the vehicle.
The Ford dealer service writer was sympathetic, I'm sure he is trying to do his best to satisfy a customer.

Good morning, any updates on this? I'm getting the same error as of 2 days ago and my dealer can't get me in until the 12th.

Same errors on mine yesterday, at dealer yesterday and today, they say a Gear Shift Module is needed and is on back order. Dash message read, SHIFT SYSTEM FAULT Service Required, followed by Service vehicle soon. Wrench light illuminated as well.
Is this something that can be fixed by Ford Engineers remotely somehow?

I was on vacation this past week, the Ford dealer had said the shift module would be here, no later than the 4th, , just called the service advisor at the dealer, he said, “ the part has not arrived, and there is no new date of when they will receive it” he asked if they could get one off the floor in assembly, no chance, and has “escalated” it , whatever that means. I do have a case open, a Ford rep, she emailed me while I was on vacation about my return date, I then asked if the car would be ready upon my return, but no response from Ford.
I’m still responsible for the monthly payment, but do not know when I will receive the car fixed correctly.
The SA at Ford said I could pick up the car and drive it, I reminded him it went into Reverse when Drive was selected, would he be comfortable driving it that way, and would Ford take all responsibility if it backed up , and caused damage, and injury, to the MME and another vehicle and it’s occupants? That is when the Jeorpardy theme could be heard……

I seem to remember my car doing the same thing, put it in Reverse to leave the garage, and it went forward. Only did it once and no alerts, bells, lights, etc... That may have been 3 months ago now. It did not do it again. Maybe that was a clue this gear selection module was failing?

The tech said I could drive it, but it may fail unexpectedly and I could be stranded. The car doesn't seem happy to be driven with this problem either, the alert stays on the dash, beeping noises, and beeps during the drive. I know this from taking it straight to the dealer. So right now I am waiting for the part. Timing on part is unknown, backordered.

So this issue came up the other day while backing out of my driveway. Once I put it in Drive from Reverse, the alert popped up with an accompanying sound. We have less than 3200 miles on the car and have not made our first payment either.

We took the car in 2 days ago and the dealer confirmed it was the shift knob and that item was on backorder until AT LEAST the end of the month. I think 3 weeks is far too long to wait for a part. We also ran into the "You can just take the car and drive it", which was concerning since I've read about the car going the wrong direction compared to the knob. My wife used VeeTail's reasoning about Ford taking responsibility with any issues that may occur and the reaction was identical. We even received pushback about a rental, which we are actually paying for partially. That is beyond frustrating but the reasoning is "the car is drivable". Yes, it moves but is it SAFE?! I have a wife and kids I'd like to protect as well as anyone else who may be around if things go south.

I'll be honest, this is my first Ford and I chose this EV over others for several reasons, including all the feedback I heard about how Ford was treating Mach-e customers. I'm not sure I've seen it personally with this case. I don't want to regret this purchase...

Sorry to hear about your MME shift issues. I did get a call from the Ford dealer yesterday, he said the part is being shipped from Ford this Friday, so it should be in their hands next week. I did not ask if they were expediting the shipment, but he did say once the was in their hands, that the car will be ready the same day.

I would elevate this to Ford and request a case number, they did take care of my rental, but that was the right thing to do, after all, my MME is going to be out of service for a complete month, due to the lack of a part being readily available. I am hopeful this will solve the issue, it sounds like only a handful of vehicles were shipped with faulty shift modules, but if one of those is yours, and safety is the man priority, I, like you , chose not to drive it for the very reasons you cite. As a former EV owner (Bolt/Tesla) , this car is better in almost every way than either of them, but that being said, I never had any issues with either that I had to take them to a dealer for unanticipated service. As I surmised earlier, I certainly do not want to be on a first name basis with my Service writer on this car.

That is good news, sounds like the parts pipeline for the module has been addressed.
Yeah, it definitely sounds that way... I received a call earlier today that my MME was ready for pickup and it's only been 6 days. I was definitely excited! The Service person laughed at me when I gave a "WOOO!" after she handed me the key. Haha. Now it's time to cross my fingers for a bit...

I had mine in last week for this, after talking briefly with the guy from Ford's customer support division a few days prior. They seemed to have zeroed out the warning memory so the car no longer remembers that it received a prior shift system fault, and ordered the replacement shift module. As I have had no physical symptoms, and they saw none themselves, I was comfortable taking the car back in the meantime. It's nice not being harped-on by the car, stressing me out when I'm trying to go for a destressing joyride.

New member Greetings,

I have a lofty 473 miles on my Premium AWD extended battery MME. This morning -38 % battery – Started car at 6am, put into DRIVE, vehicle moved into REVERSE... very interesting ... Put car in PARK, turned off , re-started after a few seconds, put in DRIVE , SHIFT SYSTEM FAULT light appears , with simultaneous SERVICE VEHICLE SOON and WRENCH light on dash, car went forward with no issue, and I drove at the speed limit 23 miles to work. The FORD App says: POWERTRAIN MALFUNCTION/REDUCED POWER.

I called my local Ford dealer, I'm taking it in this afternoon, will let you know the results. I just took delivery about 3 weeks ago. Searching the forum, I found it could be related to low 12v voltage , so I am bringing the TSB's related to the dealer ( TSB updating = 21B36 , 21B02, PAAK SW Update) for the service. I hope this is not the beginning of a great relationship with the Ford service writer.
I have the same problem on a car that I haven't even received yet! The dealer said that the light came on in their pre-delivery check. I am renting a car already because of the long delays past the promised delivery time. I am getting only a runaround from the salesperson, who so far is not letting me talk with the service person. This purchase is not off to an auspicious start. I look forward to hearing what happens on yours.
