This does not fill me with confidence as I await my GT Performance to be built and delivered to Sunnyvale Ford towards the fall.

Tesla did the exact same thing to me last year with a Model 3. After waiting six months from the order date they called to tell me the car just arrived and scheduled a pick up time. Two hours later they called back to reschedule to a "date to be determined" and gave a new VIN#. I said forget the whole thing and glad now that I did.

The Generl Manager at Sunnyvale said I'd be getting the deposit back. He added "we're all good people here". I told him many good people are also incompetent and since I was told by a saleman that this situation had happened before and he, as the one in charge, hadn't establisbed a system that would prevent it from happening again, incompetent applied to him also. I had the VIN number from day one and used the tracking tool at least three times a week to follow the MME's progress.
Since I want the Space Grey interior, the vehicle I want is very rare. I could have had everything I wanted except with a black interior from several California dealers more than a month ago. The same thing applied when I got my Fusion Hybrid SE back in 2012. Only one dealer within 300 miles had the light grey interior on order. I'll never understand the appeal of a black interior.
I know there is really nothing the dealer can do now since what I want doesn't exist in California. I'm considering telling the GM that I'll tone down my social media responses if he arranges for my salesman Sagar to get half the commission for the sale of my Mach-E. I really feel bad for him.

1. Email the executives at Ford with this story and corroborating evidence. No, they can't get your car back, but they can do other things, including ensuring that an aberrant dealer is dealt with appropriately. And they may be able to locate an available car you want.
2. This is why they make different interiors and colors. I can't imagine why people want the nearly white interiors. Stick with what you want.

And email Ford.

Did he tell you why they screwed you? I assume it's because they sold it for a higher price. Or was it because your salesman was out and someone else jumped on it?

My salesman was out and the others never looked up the status of the Mach-E until, they say, it was too late. I feel they had to discover during the purchase process with the other buyer that there was a deposit down on it and (just speculating) they told him "we can work around that".

Check the Dealers around New Orleans. There were a bunch of them in stock a week ago. You may have to take a trip, but New Orleans is fun and there are charging stations back to Cali, so it may be a super cool experience!

@scoopman Might want to visit the General Manager in person and ask him if you should move your order to another Dealer that has integrity and competence. Not being snarky, just practical. Sounds like Sunnyvale is definitely not customer oriented, and the blame is entirely on the GM or dealership owner.

This might be one of the shadiest things I've seen a dealer do. I feel like this deserves a formal response from Ford. Have you notified Ford yet?

I ordered in January through Ford.com and my local dealer. In March I found out that Sunnyvale had the exact MME listed as Dealer Ordered. I immediately contacted them and was told they expected delivery in late May (local first order is now August)so I put a $500 deposit down on it. They removed it the next day from their inventory listing since it now had my name on it.
That changes things a bit. Still a shitty thing to do, but I doubt you'll have much recourse with FoMoCo. El Centro Motors has what you're looking for listed on their site if you don't want to wait. https://www.elcentromotors.com/new/...g+Mach-E-d31336740a0e0adf1b391994b96c81be.htm
I agree that the circumstances changes your position a bit. It still sucks none the less! I'm surprised they were able to even sell the Dealer Ordered vehicle at all as I thought most of those (if not all) were still the demo units.

Is your actual original order close to being delivered? I wonder if you can get Sunnyvale to take that vehicle from your original dealer and they can maybe make it right by giving some discounts? I don't know how viable that would be, but it's just a thought.

I highlighted this thread to the Ford social media people who are on this forum via dm. I've already had a lovely Interaction with Sunnyvale Ford when they tried to charge me an ADM on my reservation from Nov 2019, fortunately I had it in writing from them via email they would not charge me ADM. I made the sales manager Jim email again to me that he would sell me my order at MSRP, but of course I just don't trust them.

I am thinking of putting in another order with another dealer (they'll all refund your deposit around here) just to preserve the option of another dealer without as much wait, I don't know what kind of shady stuff these guys in Sunnyvale might pull when my car arrives. I've read universal good things here about Morgan Hill Ford.
