The problem I see with that is, teslas are already Jan-Feb delivery, you'd be cutting it close to the deadline with the influx of orders Tesla should be getting. Unless your lucky to live in one of the few Tesla lots and they happen to have your car in stock that is.
I am seeing small amounts of existing inventory in multiple regions. But they are getting scooped up quick. Vins are up one minute, gone minutes later, although slightly easier than Taylor Swift tickets. We just wish the Model 3 long Range was available still. Tesla says due too much demand they cannot produce this model though.

I still think the Tesla look is timeless like a Porsche at this point. Kids ogle in fascination when they see them. The brand needs subtle tweaks to an otherwise perfected product. Even if Model 3 looks 3 years old, it is nice.

It’s funny. I bought a model 3 for $36,990 less than 2 years ago. Drove it 4 months then traded it. Quality was bad. Like driving a loud Honda civic. And no car play.

My sister bought that cheaper RWD Model 3 and it has cheaper stereo and interior panels than my brothers Model 3 Long Range. I think the RWD Model 3 also has less sound dampening like Dynamat.

For anyone considering the Model 3 RWD - test drive it first. It definitely isn’t like a Honda or ICE, but it definitely isn’t as nice of a ride as the Model 3 Long Range.

Can’t say I am a fan of CarPlay after putting up with my Honda and its slow CarPlay system tho. I actually prefer the Rivian and Tesla OS over these bolt-on clunky players like Android Auto and CarPlay. I think the Honda was just too old, and its computer couldn’t run CarPlay that well.

I personally will not buy another Tesla, but at these prices (back to what they were ~2yrs ago when their tax credit ended) plus the federal tax credit, the legacy makers have some serious work to do to compete.

I researched a ton at the time. There is no evidence the interior or sound dampening is any different in the RWD one. The stereo was way worse than the LR, that’s for sure. But I don’t think the LR has any better build quality. That’s just made up. It’s virtually identical to a long range except it’s missing a motor and extra batteries. In fact, the speakers from the better stereo were actually installed in mine, just not the amp and the speakers were not connected. That’s teslas whole thing. Make them almost the same to streamline manufacturing.

Better yet, offer a good lease program, with full federal tax credit.
It turns out that leases enable folks to come in from the business credit side and they still get the tax credit. That interesting loophole is going to increase the amount of leasing.

I haven't heard confirmation if Ford Options qualifies under this loophole.

If their body shop runs a 40 sec takt time, general assembly would run at a similar rate and the figures are not additive. Worse case, GA could be 10% slower, so around a car every 45 sec.
Probably not that fast but not much off. Giga Shanghai makes 3000 3+Y per day, that's 29 seconds for a car. Take out some downtime between shifts and maintenance, probably 55 second each for a Y or 3.

Ford Options is not a lease, and will not qualify in its present form. I am confident Ford will come out with a suitable lease program. Eventually...

This is the rock and a hard place most auto manufacturers find themselves in after these cuts, and why you see Tesla stock down less than 1% today, but Ford's down over 5% for example. When its a bull market its fine with a competitor has pricing power on you because they'll just gladly take the margin and leave you alone, but when market is trending down they will hang you with that margin.

Ford isn't profitable at current MME pricing, but MY was at least in general ballpark of cost. Now with MY cuts, plus in US it got under the $7500 credit threshold of $55k for the LR version its now like 20k+ cheaper than an equivalent MME. Be pretty tough to justify not buying a MY LR for $45k after the tax credit in US.

Ford really has limited margin flexibility to match. My guess is Ford's backlog is going to evaporate quickly here, and evidence growing this has already begun. Not sure what they can really do because they need volume expansion to give them more breathing room in the first place.

To compound issues, with the Austin site now ramping up Tesla is likely to continue to find increased margin buffers compared to competitors.

Look at it differently, every other auto company is increasing their EV prices 20% year over year. Tesla just reduced theirs by 20%….
Not exactly, Tesla increased prices and today reduced them, but not even to the same level they were before increases.

The m3 Lr's I drove rode like gokarts. Not sure if the suspension goes out around 20k but good lord my kid and wife we're sick quick. Wife said she'd rather be in the back. I agreed.
I was torn and spent many an hour from Jan1 to Jan8 in configs between:
m3 'base' $42k
Used 19/20 m3 LR $43k
MME Prem Std Rwd (nothing) ~$55k
Figured I better drive the LR's because I had previously purchased a m3 sr+ and taken it back. I don't remember the ride being utter crap like the 2 used LR's I test drove. Couple min in the MME and I had sealed the deal. I knew it was AWD but only had a glimpse of hope that it was a ER. It was at $52500. Seeing as the credit was going to force me to a SR (which wouldn't work as I need to go to Flagstaff to our place up there) I figured it wasn't going to work out. I did managed to see the dealer had knocked off $4k from first listing it in Dec till I grabbed it. (could have played their game of financing in order to get $1500 off but it was a wash in the books and a 8.5% rate)
I know I should have probably just waited a month lol.

If you factor in tax credit it’s the lowest a MYLR has ever been
