So I have used a few super charging stations the last few weeks and it’s not easy. All of the stations close to me have really short cords and I have had to block two spots at a time at some really busy places.

There has also been two times that I could not charge even with some spots open because of the lack of reach of the cable. So I guess this isn’t all it’s cracked up to be after all.

Well-known and heavily documented on this forum. Telsa calls this out and even gives instructions in its app. https://www.tesla.com/support/supercharging-other-evs
Ford Mustang Mach-E Tesla super charging stations almost worthless? 1721059597732-xc

For those of us that have limited CCS DCFC available having Tesla supercharging is a huge win even if we have to park poorly while using the station.

For many stations, you have to block 2 spots. You can always use the end spot and park in the spot next to it, or if they are double sided, you can park on the opposite side. it will be a learning experience for Telsa and other EV drivers. Many newer stations are designed with other EVs in mind, so that's a plus, and they are slowly rolling out the V4 supercharger. Probably slower now than before. The point is that it's not perfect, but it's improving. The key is you need to look at the capacity of a supercharger and the available spots and pick one that is less busy to accommodate when possible.

We've had 100% success every time we've tried to use a SuperCharger. It's OK to block two stall as pointed out above. Several times we've had to get really close to the Supercharger - I would park, try to reach, and then realize I needed to scooch up a few inches.

I started working on a little FAQ about Superchargers including parking etiquette:
https://mustangmacheclub.org/knowledge-base/how-should-i-park-to-use-a-supercharger/

As an example, some stations have regular parking spaces to the right, so you can park there and it won't block access to any extra Superchargers.

I’m wondering if tesla is going start charging twice the amount for those of us who block two spots at once?

It’s not twice…but if you don’t pay $12.99/month for the membership you are already paying more than Tesla drivers. (And always are by having to pay the $12.99)

At most stations, using two stalls makes zero difference since the majority of spots are empty. Having non-Teslas charge just means more revenue.

lol...get access to the most prolific charging network available and then complains about having to take two spots WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT FORD TELLS YOU TO DO..

I just did an 800 mile trip up I-75 and loved every Tesla stop I made. Reliable plug and play with 100kw+ charge rate up to 80% every time. Zero issues, more than I can say for my EA experiences.

Yes, you have to drive right up to the curb (or if they haven't removed the curb stop, on top of it) but the front cameras make that pretty easy for me. I also found there's almost always an out-of-place spot you can pull into that's right next to a charger, but only blocks one spot. I'll document them on my return trip.

Once I plug in I get 100+kW charge rate consistently, and the receipt from Ford is in my email almost immediately after I unplug. Maybe I"m just getting lucky with stations, but Tesla feels professional whereas the EA stations do not.

Only hiccup was my first discovery of unplugging the adapter from the car FIRST, then pulling the slider on the adapter to disconnect from the Tesla cord. I tried to unplug Tesla first and that did not work well. Now that I've done it a few times it's a quick motion and I'm back on the road.

Do you have any serious/intelligent questions?
Lol, Is that you Mr. Farley?

Tesla charges people when they are charged up and let their car sit idle. You don’t think that if there was were multiple ford vehicles taking up more than one spot at a very busy super charger station that they wouldn’t charge more to make up the difference? I do.

Yes, I think that was the plan when they, quite literally, told us to take up two parking spots in order to charge....?

Nice diagrams. I try to preach the “park to the right” mantra for us opposite charge port vehicles. And Teslas should try to park to the left first to leave space for non-Teslas.

Yeah even suggesting they are anywhere near worthless makes zero sense. They are just another option, and one that clearly most people are able to utilize. It isn't ideal, no argument there, but even if there isn't currently an open spot you can fit in with the issues, you can wait a bit and one is likely to open up in most areas.

The addition of SCs has cut almost an hour off one of the more frequent trips I take. Having to take up another spot is a small price.
