So based on feedback from two people about pending FDRS updates for my Mach E, I just bought the 2-day license and updated the APIM, BCM, HVAC and RFA modules.

The APIM update needed a USB and using my SSD as the USB, took 20 minutes once the SSD was connected. Plus the pre-and post-USB time... altogether almost 40 minutes. Now the car is on Synch 1122 with the new top buttons on the screen, and also a whole bunch of other stuff, judging by the number of multiple APIM actions during this update.

The HVAC, usually a very short update, also took a good 20+ minutes. So did the BCM of course, and to my surprise even the RFA update took a good 25 minutes. Altogether a nice long session of nearly 2 hours.

Many thanks to rugedraw and one other person in the other FDRS thread!

Let's see what pops for more updates over the next two mornings :D

I really hope there was SOME WAY to make Sync slightly snappier. It drives me nuts. It used to be on boot up it was slow, then it would be somewhat usable. Now it is just a mess. If I click temp control or heated seat and attempt to adjust it with the volume knob, it'll be working then lag out and go back to controlling volume and now I'm either blasting my ear drums or the music turns off. Drives me insane!!

My 2021 Job 2 is not showing a new APIM yet.

Yeah I saw that and based on my previous experience doing a DSP update on my Lightning last year, I think I'll pass. I don't want to risk having to listen to a loud "pop" from the speakers everytime I unlock the car and open a door or the rear hatch. Cause that's what still happens on my Lightning today. An no PMI or Config etc. has been able to make it stop. It's the one update I wish I'd never done. Whatever it was intended to fix...I don't think I had a problem with anyway...but after the update I now have a problem I can't make go away.

Notice any changes to from the other updates?
Not yet, other than the Synch visual changes. Among other changes in the Synch the PUBLIC CHARGING app seems much improved now, with easy common-sense driver-settable DC Fast charging point filters.

Of course, imho an HVAC update is always welcome on the Mach E as Ford incorporates newly captured data points across the Mach E fleet, especially this one HVAC update which was by far the most extensive HVAC update I've ever seen. We shall see what it improves on the next long drive, in the heat of the Summer and later in the cold of Winter.

No comment on the RFA update. I don't use and don't intend to use the PAAK function.

I don't remember ever getting the option to remove voice applications from sync.

Is this a newish option in FDRS?

Not that I want to, but would this remove Alexa and/or Ford assistant?

This prompt pops up when the cache is full or close to it. If the update fails, you may have to remove the voice apps to get it to go through. I would just remove it now jic.

The cache somewhere on my laptop?

What voice apps is it talking about?

FDRS successfully wrote the USB, I think.

I got the Software Updating screen after inserting the USB into the MME.

Waiting for the car to tell me Restart Required.

The cache in the APIM itself if I understood correctly when it was explained to me. Not sure which voice apps.....I think it refers to the thing where you can send voice feedback to Ford.

The APIM updated without having to Remove Voice Applications from Sync.
That option is just in case it won't update and gives you an error about being out of memory. So you would then remove the voice app to free up memory and then put it back after the update. If you never got an error while trying to do the update...you don't need to worry about it.
