Space white is free.

Thanks, saw both of these.

They are pretty much single charge tests vs extended trip where you drain and fill repeatedly like Bjorn Nylands 1000 KM Geilo test

Hey OP, get the car that best fits your needs, budget, driving style, and personal tastes. The Model Y definitely charges faster but i don't think it's a deal breaker. Ryan from the Kilowatts YouTube channel just did a 1000 mile return drive from the Bay Area to Vegas with a Model Y and Mach-E 4X and concluded that the MME was between 60-90 minutes behind.
That jives pretty much identically with ABRP's data.

Im hoping to see Ford tweak that gap tighter in software.

I dont understand why the MME shouldn't be able to at least match the Y both being 400V and the MME having a slightly bigger battery.

Its a pouch battery right? Maybe they are worried about swelling?

Thanks

Agreed - I worded the car play piece poorly - Im aware MM has it and Y not - corrected the wording.

AM radio I could care less about. I can basically get radio multiple places.

Curious does either have HD FM radio?
MME has HD FM

The bigger battery means it will probably always have longer charge times than the Model Y. It just has more energy it needs to take at the charger.

That said, there is a lot of room for the Mach-E's charging curve to improve while the Tesla's is pretty well optimized after all of those years of Model 3s being out on the road. A couple of people like Kyle from Out of Spec have alluded to the Mach-E's charging curve being improved after talking to Ford engineers. This is Ford's first fast-charging EV and they were clearly extremely conservative with the battery buffer and curve. We will just have to wait and see how they change it once they get more usage data.

I understand, they got the efficiency profiles from somewhere and have been pretty good at staying on top of reported curves.

Do you know of another 3rd party tool that will allow comparison of the two?
Dave, buy a Model Y. I don't understand why people come here to bash it instead of ask open ended questions to learn about the pro's and cons of each.

I will say I went down the same path as you. Though the direct to consumer model was better. Thought Tesla had mobile service down pat. Thought the range was going to be as advertised. So I bought a Tesla. A year and a half later I dumped the piece of crap Tesla model 3 and realized the value of owning a car that was made by a company with over 100 years of experience and I began to realize the dealers add much more value to our lives than you can imagine.

Good luck Dave

Ford certainly needs to makes tweaks to the charge curve, but would rather they looked at trying to match the e-tron with is 150kwh continuous to 80% regardless of initial sate of charge (both have a similar sized battery and buffer) rather than just having an even larger peak only to drop down soon after.

Only ford truly knows why they are being so ultra conservative and who knows what competition they used as a benchmark. 60-90 minutes is a large deficit over a longer trip. Seems ford has been too wrapped up in the you charge at home mentality targeting first time EV owners. As more and more charge stations appear over the coming years owners should be more inclined to take longer trips and not be put off due to charge curve.

charge to full - I agree.
The bigger battery should yield a faster 10-80 time though.

He is not who he is pretending to be... he thinks we can’t tell. “Its a pouch battery right? Maybe they are worried about swelling?” Yeah, right. LOL
Ask your moderator to check me out.

Can you send me a link to the posts of the guy you think I am? I'm curious.

Fanboys hate an articulated case for something else. If you cant sway him-ban him.
If he disagrees ban him - classic.

Im hitting the road today on the same exact trip I outlined and a new tesla model S is ghosting me or Im ghosting him depending on which way one sees it.

One of you guys can PM me and we can share linked in profiles and you can see Im exactly who I say I am.

1. People are silent about all makes and models with no problems.
2 There are problems and there are differences the two aren't the same.

I consciously look at both

Super glad you got a good one. I'll be watching to see how it all unfolds over time.

like said earlier that no one acknowledged I want to see Ford do well.
That's exactly my point -- the silent majority on car forums... are actually the majority. A lot of people come to these forums to get help with their car problems, hence a biased # of threads about "problems".

Ok, I am acknowledging that you want to see Ford do well. But from our perspective, you'd have to admit that, after reading through this thread, it seems pretty evident that you're in the other camp.

The facts and information on both cars are all out there already. What are you looking for with this thread? I am happy to share my experiences, if that's what you're collecting.

I'd like to see if Ford can narrow the charging gap with an OTA.

I think its cockpit is probably a better place to spend 8 hours. Im used to car play and giving it up wold be a bummer.

Seems to me following a dedicated forum is the best place to see what updates come and what they do to the car...

Ok, I’m not trying to disparage the OP (or anyone else) here, but this thread has gone on for 14 pages. The OP presented his decision and his rationale way back on the first page. His mind is pretty made up. Why are people continuing to try to challenge his decision or change his mind? In some ways, this is beginning to sound like a bunch of Tesla fanboys (without the Elon Musk adoration).
just let the poor guy be. He can go off and order his model 3 and be happy with his choice for goodness sake! Not our issue!
