Tolls Not Detecting IPASS

Now, before someone said to put in the dotted area, I did and it is very inconsistent and sometimes, the tolls won't even register it. I have gotten invoices for unpaid tolls and I'm getting annoyed. I am going to get more Velcro strips to try the left side and see if that is any better. Any one else has this problem?

Have you tried the new iPass sticker (replaces the transponder). Had good luck with sticker used in other states.

Try lowering the transponder to the bottom of the dotted area. It seams that the roof edge may be blocking the signal. My transponder works fine in this position.

In NH, we have EZ Pass. Our fancy IR blocking windshield was interfering with the transponder so I changed to one mounted on the front license plate. NH requires a front plate so I did not have to drill new holes.

All I tell you is I have a Florida SunPass and with the transponder in the middle of that area it works fine.

Also it looks like you have it mounted upside down? I'm guessing if you flip it and lower it a little you'll have more success.

I have the same type of IPass transmitter and haven't had a problem with it a little lower and right-side-up.

A couple years back (I'm a Job 1 owner) i had that same problem. The tollway folks took that style transponder back from me and gave me one that mounted on the front license plate. They said something about the coating in class in EVs causing interference/signal blocking.

I see others saying to try different locations, but with ipass switching over to stickers it might just be time to get on the future train.

Mine is on the left side, in the dotted area. I believe the manual states recommended placement.

Honestly, sticker for the license plate would be a lot easier since all I can see through the pics on the invoice is my bright license plate lol. I assume that the sticker is waterproof. I might have to see if I can apply for one.

So I went out and got an Ipass sticker. This requires me to stick it to the inside. Could I still put it on my plate?

Our EZ-Pass transponders have the same form factor (and thus are likely the same device electronically). Mine is mounted in the same location and I’ve never had read problems in PA, DE, MD, VA, or the DRPA.

Prior to the new sticker IPASS had a transponder that mounts onto the top of the front license plate on the outside of the car. this is what was recommended.

Sounds like that would only work for cars with front license plates? Also, wouldn’t that be further from the overhead gantries and possibly blocked by engine components in ICE vehicles?
