I’m trying to think back what year it was I was riding motorcycles at the time, I was at the Harley dealer and someone had a white Chevy volt in the parking lot on display and I think I remember them saying they could drive about 700 miles on that it was about $45,000 trying to remember the year but not sure. I thought that was the first one that came out.
EV1 was 1996-1999. The Wikipedia write up is pretty decent.

Let us know how the Lyric’s frunk works out for you ? in my mind, a positive for the Lyriq is ventilated seats, and a no-go is no frunk.
While I dearly loved my Cadillacs, no frunk is a no-go for an EV. Gotta chill. ??

You know it's sad because GM is making a horrible move by removing those kinds of features and has nothing to do with safety all the things they claim that are integrated doesn't matter Google stuff isn't great and it's all not great so why not let the customer choose what they want to use Instead of force them into some other silo that makes them have to relearn things and makes it more unsafe because now they have to figure out how to use something they're not familiar with hello hello McFly, your GM guy is an idiot
Yah, I don't get it - and one little consumer (me) doesn't have a whole lot of power, but in this case that is more than enough for me to never by another GM. And I have liked GM in the past - my very first car was an Olds, got a Traverse in it's first year of release, etc. If they are going to be so flippant about refusing to even allow the option of an industry standard in their cars, I feel more than ok flippantly saying I'll never even consider one of their brands going forward.

I've posted this before, but for me there is an incredible amount of value in driving a car where (just about) anyone else who might drive it will have a super familiar infotainment/phone experience whilst behind the wheel. I can learn a Google based system, or an OEM-specific platform, but man it's nice to just tell someone (wife, kids, friends, etc) to just hook up their phone to CarPlay and go .... no adding a user or pairing a new bluetooth device in some menu you don't know how to get to, just link up to CarPlay and hit the road.

Anyway, OP has the best of both worlds I guess.....CarPlay a car that doesn't handle nearly as well as their old one, lol (j/k, best of luck)!

My black Poodle demands the front seat. Some basic Caddy specifications: dual motor 500hp, 425ft lbs torque, 102 kWh battery pack (usable?) 307 miles range. 3500lb tow capacity. 196 inches long 65 inches high. 190kW max charge rate- charging curve? More Hp and higher kW charging rate than the Mach E.. about the same size. European Mach E have 3300l. Tow capacity.

The ride in the back is pretty rough on the Mach, and so is lack of seat heaters in winter. May be worth checking out

I also own a 2024 Lyriq along with the 2024 Mach-E Premium that I just purchased last week. The Lyriq does still support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the OS for the car is Google Auto. You can access the Play store and download a limited number of apps that they've made available like Waze and just recently A Better Router Planner.

The don't support PAAK but rumored to add support for card access, they're a small ICON on the B pillar on the driver side where you'd tap it, but no word if that will ever see the light of day. They were also supposed to add the capability to record all the cameras on the car, there's even a slot for a SD card in the cargo area, but that's another thing that might or might never show up.

It does have one pedal driving with two levels of aggressiveness, which I like the higher one, very seldom need to actually use the break, while the Mach-E isn't as aggressive and I find having the use the break more.

My understanding is that the 2023 WT (work truck) had CarPlay but the new big battery/big trim 2024 RS do not. I may have the Silverado letter codes wrong as I know little else about them.
Could be. I know very little about them other than what I recently saw on a trip to the mainland. It had Carplay. What the rest of the Silverados had is another story. Buying an EV Silverado is not in the cards for me anyway — even if I was inclined to buy a non-carplay vehicle. I already have a car that the only dealer on the island refuses to support and which @Ford Motor Company has washed their hands of, I'm not about to add a Chevy EV to that list. Spoiler Alert: The Chevy dealer here is owned by the distributor for Toyota out here. And we know about Toyota and BEVs.

I was out looking at i4's this past week. The BMW dealer has a local reputation for being all-in on EVs. That's the plus. The minus? No frunk. Yet another game killer. :)

My wife test drove the Lyriq about 6 months ago. I was on the passenger side. Man, that car has a "Cadillac" suspension. It is smooth and sweet. They also had a pale blue color that my wife liked. But she chickened out on the EV and went with their #5 midsize SUV.

That being said, I am a huge Frunk user and ever since Jimrpa & I received the automatic Frunk update life has been Good!!!

But the lack of ventilated seats & the rougher than normal suspension could make you think twice. I was daydreaming today about upgrading to the GTPE just for the magnaride........

I don’t understand the frunk obsession. I still haven’t figured out what to store in that plastic tub that has no insulation and gets pretty hot while driving. I imagine anything I put in there will slide and bounce around lot as well.
Initially I was in the take or leave camp, when it comes to the frunk, but I find it is very good for grocery shopping as unless you local grocery store is 100s of miles away heat will not be an issue. I haven't found things to roll around either, but then I tend to pack all the groceries in. It is also good for take out meals as you can keep the cabin aroma free. While not a deal breaker when ever the time comes to getting a new EV, I will be taking frunk size into account.

Magneride isn't the be-all, end-all, but it is very nice. I wish they had a stiffer setting and less steering assist (and more precision). The recirculating ball steering box in my '79 T/A is much more precise. ?‍♂?

May I suggest this . You can use Ford points on the purchase. I throw some winter "just in case stuff" in it and it fits nicely in the frunk hole . Organized and stationary for the most part

GM uses Android Automotive, which lets you download all kinds of apps directly to the vehicle from the Google Play Store. Also Google maps built in. I even tied ABRP to my Hummer battery easily, without signing up for Premium

.
Any idea if you can download something like Torque or another Car Scanner app to use with an OBD which will show results on main screen ??
