I don’t understand the frunk obsession. I still haven’t figured out what to store in that plastic tub that has no insulation and gets pretty hot while driving. I imagine anything I put in there will slide and bounce around lot as well.
Here’s a thought…if the frunk gets that warm it could be a good place to stash the ski boots on the way to the slopes.⛷

It doesn't get all that hot. There's a set of coolant hoses that run very close to the rear center of the frunk tub, which is the warmest part of the frunk. While traveling or when the fans are on, the hot air from the heat exchangers for the A/C and cooling systems travels around the frunk tub before exhausting out the wheel wells. It's definitely warmer in there while the car is running than the environment, but I would not say it's hot. ?‍♂?

You can see here that the bottom rear center is about 6.5°C warmer than ambient. ??

Groceries when I'm shopping multiple stores, takeout food, gas cans (for the mowers) when they need filling, refuse for the dumps, swim gear — both before and after an ocean swim, 60 lbs of ice and assorted drinks for the EV drive-ins and occasional beach meetups, anything dirty that needs to go home with me because littering is illegal (and not nice), scuba gear, anniversary, birthday, and Christmas presents for my wife I'm trying to hide. That's pretty much a good start. Yes, I've had all of that stuff in the frunk multiple times from time to time. :)

Any idea if you can download something like Torque or another Car Scanner app to use with an OBD which will show results on main screen ??
You do not need that with the app directly in the truck, when I installed ABRP I simply told it to connect to the battery and to the vehicle location. It gets temperature, latitude, longitude, speed, elevation, SoC and power right from the vehicle directly via Google.

It even stores the data online for up to 24 hours, without paying for Premium subscription.

That temperature differential will increase in hotter weather when there is more load on the A/C. It may increase to +20ºC over ambient.

interesting Steve. Doesn’t sound like an effective boot warmer! With my ICE cars I plugged in my heated boot bag with its 12v pigtail (has a 120 that allows more heat range to dry the boots back wherever I’m staying if it’s an overnight trip) and kept the boots reasonably warm on the drive up. I haven’t convinced myself that the MME will have the juice to spare in the winter for boot warming. Not sure how much current the boot bag draws.

I test drove a Lyriq, hated the car, hated the salesperson, hated the dealership. I guess it was in demo mode, nothing on the screens other then a graphic of the car, the stupid wings on the headrests obstructed a view to the rear, its blind spot monitoring/alert system vibrated the bottom of the seat on the side of the alert, which I didn’t like. It wasn’t all that plush of a ride IMHO, wasn’t that quick and felt like a boat.

But otherwise, a pretty nice car?

When traveling to the in-laws, we use the frunk for all of our overnight bags and dog stuff. The dog (75 lb lab) is in the back cargo area, and the kids in the back. Without the frunk, we'd need a much larger, 3 row style SUV for this case alone. The frunk is a HUGE deal breaker to me. If you don't have one, that is just lazy ass engineering. You mean you can remove an engine, transmission, alternator, etc and not give any space back?

Initially I was in the take or leave camp, when it comes to the frunk, but I find it is very good for grocery shopping as unless you local grocery store is 100s of miles away heat will not be an issue. I haven't found things to roll around either, but then I tend to pack all the groceries in. It is also good for take out meals as you can keep the cabin aroma free. While not a deal breaker when ever the time comes to getting a new EV, I will be taking frunk size into account.
What’s wrong with the aroma of the meal that you are about to eat wafting through the car?

Nothing, until the next day when the smell now permeates the car and no longer smells like the Punjabi takeout you had but rather like something which came out of the south end of a north bound sheep.

No frunk for you! But you do get a generously smaller trunk, the lane centering of a ping pong ball and it's really not a Mustang.

I'm sure it's a fine car, enjoy and see you when you trade it in on a Mach-E!

The Lyriq doesn't have PaaK? That's very surprising.
If you've ever owned a Cadillac, not surprising. If they ever got it they would charge for it. They charged me for my phone app to start my ct5 from my phone.

Most car makers do. Ford is one of the very few that doesn't.
With the Chevy bolt (also GM), starting the car from your phone was free for 5 or 8 years. I forget which. I was surprised that Ford gives it away for free/lifetime... until I realized that in order to enable it, you ALSO have to enable the car reporting all kinds of data back to Ford. So, you're trading certain "anonymized" data for that access.

At least until AT&T shuts down their 4G/LTE network. Then I guess none of it will work anymore.
