currently car-less, but hope to get a MME!

I traded in my Mach-e for a 2023 Cadillac Lyriq. I was lucky to be able to purchase a demo model. So far I miss the puddle lights and I really miss PAAK. I was afraid I was going to have to give up one-pedal, but fortunately the Lyriq's one-pedal driving works really well.

I hope that when I next purchase a Mach-e that there are significant improvements.
Congrats on your trade-in. A few questions;

1) Does it have SuperCruise? If so, how does it compare to Blue Cruise?
2) How does charging speed compare to the Mach-E?
3) How are the rear blindspots? The C-pillar design looks extremely thick.
4) Do you miss having a rear wiper?

I used to have a Lyriq reservation but cancelled due to some of the above concerns.

Limited experience, but I think it’s every bit as good.

2) How does charging speed compare to the Mach-E?

I haven’t tested it on a road trip. It seems to charge faster on my level two charger at home. I got 345 miles on full charge.

Blind spots have not been an impediment. Mostly use the back-up camera to back up. yellow spots in the mirrors are adequate for adjacent vehicles.
4) Do you miss having a rear wiper?

I haven’t yet, but I haven’t driven in wet weather much.

I missed the Mach-e, driving on mountain roads this morning.

I was watching an episode of Hoove's garage and he traded in his cyber truck for a lyric he seems to be happy with it.

For another data point:

1 - From the limited experience I have BC seems to not ping/pong as much as SC. But SC will automatically change lanes for you, if there's room, when you come upon slower traffic, and will change back after you've passed.

2 - Can't really compare yet to the Mach-E, not enough experience. The Lyriq has issues with battery management throttling aggressively when it's warm. It will start out in the 190-180kWh range for maybe 5 to 10 minutes and then start a downward slope. In Texas 100+ days I've seen it actually go down to 6kWh and then the charger eventually disconnected. I can head the HVAC system really cranking trying to cool off the battery. This is something the dealer still needs to address. Since I can charge at home currently not a big problem but doing a big road trip in August and if not fixed can make it a very long trip.

3- Haven't really noticed this yet, between the mirrors and the BSM and seat vibrating haven't noticed.

4- Ask me once we get some rain in Austin.

My car, an early 2021 job 1, has three NHTSA safety recalls. There is one dealer on this island, they sold me the car brand new. They’re steadfastly refusing to do the HVBJB recall and have stated too both me and Ford corporate personnel that they will not do the recall as they’re to busy with Lightnings to work on an mme and don’t foresee any point in the future where they could perform the recall. For the other two recalls they just refuse. They’ve told me to talk to Ford as it’s not their problem.

A complaint was filed with the NHTSA. Ford, at various levels and offices, has gotten involved. Neither Ford, nor the NHTSA has been able to make the dealer budge. It’s my understanding that there were allocation cuts to the dealer for this year because of this. The answer is still no.

My options are to sell or sue. Neither are good options;
Why not ship your MME to Oahu and have Ford reimburse the costs? Just a thought from one islander to another... ;)

We have an i4 40eDrive (RWD 18" wheels) as well as our MME. I love them both. The i4 is quieter, has a bit more range and drives like a BMW!
I would put the Lyriq somewhere between the two. It has a quiet compliant ride like the i4 but is more wagon-like (more space and longer wheelbase) like the MME.

For me, the Lyriq wasn't big enough so I declined it and picked up a 23 R1S (which I didn't love). Lyriq was too big for dense urban driving so I kept the MME... which is the right size. The only EV that can replace the MME for dense urban commuting is the new MINI Countryman EV.

The lack of a frunk and CarPlay are not the dealbreakers for me... but Siri is a endless source of frustration. It's written by monkeys. It's so broken. My young niece was having a blast at breaking it.

Niece (pressing Spotify Siri command): "Call me maybe" (the Carly Rae Jepson song)
Siri: "I can you call Maybe..." (something like this and shows a pop-up).

The only worse system is Alexa on the Rivian :)

Unfortunately , I’ve also been ghosted by Ford now. That is an option, Young Brothers has a great round trip deal for Hilo-HNL-Hilo car shipments (just slightly more than the one way fee). The caveat is that the return needs to be within 30 days of the initial shipping date. I’d have to coordinate that closely with Honolulu Ford to make it happen and that might also need Ford’s cooperation. Sadly, I’m not alone in this. There are several other job 1 2021’s in the same boat.

At this point I’m actively looking to replace the car. I’ll even consider a 2024 (or later) Mach-e with the somewhat less failure plagued HVBJB. Although any future Ford’s won’t be bought from Orchid Isle. We’ve already shifted our F150 maintenance work elsewhere.

I genuinely like the Mach-e, it’s the dealer I hate. In Ford’s defense, they are hamstrung by dealership laws here and it’s a balancing of priorities. Are they going to kill off a dealership inconveniencing and stranding a lot of owners over a handful of ev’s? Of course not. Still sucks though.

To tie this all back in to the thread, the reason I read this thread at all was because of the active shopping I’m doing. There is no Cadillac dealer here though, although there is a Chevy dealer (ironically owned by the Toyota Hawaii distributor) which might deal in them.

My only experience with a Lyriq was when one drove on the wrong side of a road in the middle of a town (Naalehu) at 25 plus over the speed limit (I was at +7) to get in front me and use the only DCFC station in the area as a parking spot (he didn’t even plug in).

Will be interesting to read more legit comparisons with other EV’s over time. I was really close to buying the Caddy but comparing two different forums felt “safer” learning the ropes with this group. Have learned a LOT here that I was able to use from door locks to charging to terminology. Glad to see iFeckless stayed in the EV family regardless off brand.
