Just a general thought about wall chargers- when I had a Leaf the specialist ev dealer I bought it from arranged a charger for me- he was adamant that you should never haver a tethered cable type as it's not unknown for tea-leaves to cut the cable off with bolt croppers for the copper in the cable.

Yes I’ve gone for the Zappi. It also has Earthing advantages and prevents the car from making the house live in the event of a fault. In the summer I might get 80 miles a day from solar surplus. Not cheap mind.
The Hyundai iconic thing has a solar panel on the roof I believe? Charges the car while you toast?

Foe those with solar panels the zapi charger automatically takes the excess from the panels and puts it in the car rather than to the grid
I’m getting the Zappi installed.

I have solar so, providing I’m still getting the grant, I’m looking forward to running my car for nowt. ?

A quick question about un-tethered.

If my front drive is open to anyone, can someone just walk and steal my cable?

I'm curious about this too. Likewise if you park up in a shopping centre and plug your cable into the charger there... Can someone just steal it? Or does it lock to the car when the car is locked?

It locks to the car while charging (or at least my current car does).

it’s a bit of a gimmick. It might be enough to top up your 12v if you’re lucky. might work in the Sahara a bit.

Great - Untethered it is for me then
just never forget your cable or better still have one for the house and one for the car. You’re in trouble if you forget it.

All public charges lock at both ends when using your own cable. The car will only unlock it when the key is near, and the charger will only unlock its end when the payment or subscription card is swiped again.

On home chargers that don’t have a teathered cable it locks both ends based on the car. So when you unlock the car end it also unlocks the charger end at the same time.
